Is it really not possible though to make it so that any message you've posted to someone else also shows up when you click on "Msgbox", indexed with messages that have been sent to you? I really think it should function in this sense in the same way that the private message system functioned in the past.
I mean, it doesn't seem to be a good idea to have to go searching for messages that you've sent other people in the "your threads" index. Especially if your phasing out all together the old private message system... People send and receive messages all the time, they shouldn't have to dig through two entirely different locations to find them (especially if one of those places is flooded with links to threads that one has posted in).
I don't know if it's harder to implement this, but I really hope that it isn't going to be half-assed. :lol:

true... some people were dying of cancer and malaria... not many laughs at all.

Was the general consensus not that mobiles were absurd though? It certainly was in my part of the world.

Thing is, the current PM system doesn't really work all that well for readability. Send a few PMs back and forth with someone and you get this kind of thing:

Then you run into the nested quote limit if you want earlier PMs in the discussion to be visible. IMO the threaded format makes way more sense. Earlier messages in the discussion are automatically visible and there is no need for a lot of awkward quote boxes.

How about a To: field in the post form?  With the ability to put multiple recipients in it separated by ;

So it's more like PMs but with a form like view.  Or if this isn't meant to replace PMs then nevermind.

I think citric has been smoking acid again, this msgbox thing makes literally zero sense and clutters the fuck out of the shroomy bar. Hey bros we heard you like :pm: so we put a box for your messages next to your messages, we have absolutely no fuckin idea how this adds to the site at all but were gonna go through with it anyway. Next up, secondary journals so you can journal while you journal.

Please bear with us for a little while on this.  The foundation of this project is to make PM's work more like Gmail, where replies are grouped for intuitive ease of access.  I do realize that it presently looks a bit like a bastardization of our Journal, PM and forum functionality all mashed together, but hopefully with some constructive feedback, we can make this a more powerful and ultimately more useful messaging system.

For starters, I am suggesting:
  • Make the "Post" button say "Compose a Message" or something to that effect.

  • Get rid of the thread permissions box, this is a PM replacement, not a journal.  Every post in the MsgBox should only be visible to the specified recipient(s) and sender... otherwise it's just a tweaked out version of the journal function (note: this option should be added to the journal function).

  • The "Secure this post and include" box should be moved to the top of the page above "Subject" and it shouldn't be optional, it should simply read, "To:" and then any names inputted there will be the people who have access to the contents ( i.e. the message recipients).

  • Get rid of the following options: Sticky post, Add a poll, Add to favorites, Add signature... they are at best unnecessary and at their worst, convolute the ease of process for the end users.

  • Possibly get rid of the "Post Icon" group as well, it's a big chunk of screen real estate for something that should be kept simple.

  • Create folders, where users can opt to segregate specific message threads into user-defined categories.

I wish I had some constructive criticism for you, but I really don't.  I can say that I'm not real wild about the aesthetic of it though; looks all cluttered up top.  I wish I could hide that (and the journal too, considering I don't have one) like we can with that silly 'Let's Chat!' thing Andy made.
