so am i and usually i have no symptoms whatsoever when quitting... i think it depends far more on my general health and attitude when i quit caffeine  it doesn't seem particularly physically addictive to me... perhaps having given up nicotine, comparatively caffeine withdrawal is too subtle to even register on my radar.

i'm just saying that if i was in poor physical health and in the frame of mind that drinking it was going to kill me, quitting would be exponentially worse than doing so when feeling happy and healthy.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Coffee is a cunt!  I can't do cold turkey because the headaches/brain fog/cold symptoms make it impossible for me to function, so today I replaced my morning cup of coffee with black tea, and I'm going to taper down over the next week or so to no caffeine at all.  It helps!

Good luck!!!

I'm really looking forward to being off caffeine completely again, and the feeling of being refreshed in the morning an not NEEDING anything to get my day started.....

How does the caffine content in black tea differ from coffee??
I would love to quit coffee but its so ritualistic that if I were to quit cold turkey my
Morning drive to work would feel as though somethings missing and caffeine pills wouldnt
Cut it.
I really need a substitute if I were to quit coffee.

Wiccan do you think piracetam is a good substitute for caffeine?

I took a gram of the stuff and almost had another heart attack. I was sick for days in a cardiovascular way.

To some it may be, to me it is a poison.  Anbd I'm not looking for a caffeine substitute, after 15 years I want off caffeine, into sobriety.

That doesn't sounds like piracetam to me. Was it after that MDPV OD?

I quit caffiene a few times before, most recently about a year ago because I was having crazy anxiety and brain fog. I felt amazing a few weeks after quitting... clear headed and less anxious. Somewhere along the line I slowly started drinking more and more until it became a regular routine and now I'm back to square one with high anxiey and brain fog. I think it's time for me to quit as well. I quit smoking 2 weeks ago and I'm thinking caffiene is going to be next.

For me caffiene is good until it starts becoming a habit and then I notice it makes my brain feel burnt out and hazy all the time. Exercise, good diet, and sleep will give you more consistent energy levels and a better overall quality of life than being a caffiene junky. I gotta get back on track here myself...

I was on coffee hard for most of my developmental years. Junior year through freshman year in college was the worst though - every morning, throughout the day, the boldest, strongest stuff I could find - always black.
One day I just decided "fuck coffee I'm done" and that was that. No problems whatsoever. I enjoy now getting out of bed and being able to function immediately (well, I need a shower RIGHT away. I CANNOT get up and not shower. Shower is my coffee in a sense).
Now, I stick to tasty herbal teas, I'm just starting to get a liking for green tea (caffeinated, unlike the herbals). Thinking of ordering some yerba in the near future. People need to be aware of the other legal stimulants that are a shit ton better than nasty ass coffee. YUCK.
I almost hate the stuff now. Once in a while I"ll have a small cup, with a good amount of cream (not milk, cream - that's crucial!) and it's okay, but the jitters due to not having any tolerance sucks.
I find tea both relaxing AND stimulating. it's a much better alternative, in my eyes.
I have a real addictive personality, so I'm even hesitant about ordering that yerba. I don't want another caffeine addiction. I"m currently quitting my occasional smoking as well. Even a few cigs a week effects you, and I"m over it. First couple of days are always the worst.
Best of luck with everything
:peace:

So just as I was pissing I came to a realization.
If I quit coffee my frequent urination will probably
Subside. I had a full pot of coffee around 4 and have pissed 5 times since.
I feel as though I'm best friends with my toilet.
The amount I urinate is nauseating. Goddamn diuretics

Caffeine is in no way a depressant.... It's an anti-depressant. The mechanism of action is the same in all people, introvert or extrovert. Adenosine is adenosine....

You're correct, that the mechanism of action is the same, but the result of that mechanism can differ.  For example, people prone to anxiety get more anxious from caffeine, and it can affect people differently.

I've never met anybody that drinks a cup of coffee to help them sleep at night. Caffeine is a stimulant....not a depressant.

I get that different drugs can effect different people in different ways....but saying that caffeine is a depressant is like saying a benzo is a stimulant :justdontknow:

I never said coffee was a depressant, just that in some personality types it
acts as one, much in the same way that amphetamines calm ADD/ADHD patients
and no one can argue amphetamines to be a depressant but they certainly act
as such in some personality types. there's loads of studies that show this

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10472512

there are plenty of people that use coffee as a sleep aid

Damn reading this post makes me want some :coffee:
But I like the idea of quitting caffeine, I never knew it causes withdrawals.
Tommorrow I will test that out for myself. I doubt I can go more than a day without it though

I was always under the impression caffeine is like good ol' vitamin N (nicotine )
As in, it can be a stimulant or depressant.
I've passed out immediately after drinking some brew before.
But that was in my heavy drinking days.
Now I'm literally buzzing from half a cup, so sleep is outta the question

It's interesting how much better I feel after one day off coffee, even though I've still been drinking tea!

I traded my morning coffee(s) for a small cup of tea in the morning. It feels like my head is in a vice grip and I'm anxious as hell. Sometimes it can take 48 hours or so to reach the peak of splitting headaches and anxiety, or maybe you're just lucky. Either way I ain't trying to bring you down, good luck on cutting back, and hopefully you aren't eating those words in a few hours.

I get severe stomach pains and gut rot from caffeine. Not to mention when I was abusing the shit out of it I had mild moments of psychosis.

......I stay away from it these days. But the withdrawal blows ass.

Not too sure on the accuracy of that spider web experiment. The dose they gave to the spider could have been an extremely high dose for a spider.

I think for some people caffeine is a help, for some it simply gives them anxiety and jitters.  I've gone without it long enough to know that I feel dead in the morning no matter what, so quitting caffeine wouldn't help me feel better in the morning, but my wife can't have any caffeine without feeling spun out and nervous, so to each his own.  Good luck to wiccan and yogabunny, hope you two stay off and it serves you well.  I for one, am keeping the habit.  Which reminds me, it's tea time.

It also gets me how they take what could easily be the result of temporary intoxication and claim without justification that it's not only evidence of neurotoxicity, but that it should be a new standard for determining such.  Wtf...

End of day 1 and my head is throbbing in pain. I quit a pack a day cigarette habit and it wasn't even a fraction as bad as cutting back the caffiene. I can't function at all. I just had to go meet with some lady to fill out paperwork and the brain fog and anxiety was so bad I could barely answer basic questions like my date of birth. She must have thought I was fucking retarded.

I hope it's worth it in a few days.
