The Speaking Trees

Okay, my dad was talking to me once, about something he read or heard on talk radio. I don't really remember once, but I'll take a few stabs to see if I connect with anything in your holographic minds...
He was telling me about trees, about how they emit different electrical pulses or whatnot, that go out to other trees, especially when they die. That these "communications", go back and forth between trees.
Has anyone heard anything on this? It's gotta be around somewhere..

Never heard of it, but im sure its highly probable. And if its not true, its probably because no ones proved it yet.

Ive never heard that, but I do beleive trees have energy. When walking in state parks, I often stop and seep energy from the trees. I can feel it moving in through my hands, into my body.. but it may be all placebo, and me creating the energy within myself. Either way it gives me strength to go a bit further. Heres how I do it:

I close my eyes(or open really) and place both hands on the tree. Feel its energy(for 30 seconds or so), imagine a circular flow going through the tree. Ask the tree to take from it, and then visuallize your body becoming part of this circular flow of energy. Thank nature afterwords.

when I pull my hands off the tree after absorbing its energy I don't thank it I yell "sucker!" and use the tree power to run like hell back to my car and spew a cloud of exhaust into the woods as I cruise back to the city.

Something unexplained last time I checked: When a forest fire starts burning trees for many many miles around get their reproductive system in gear. I wonder how the burning trees communicate that the other trees oughtta make cones quick.

I understand.

But I think a more important question is, "If the trees screamed would we cut them down?"

And even more importantly, "What if they screamed all the time for no reason?"

I've been thinking there is something differant or special about trees. Possably this has something to do with it.

If this isn't the hippiest conversation I've ever seen in this forum, I don't know what is. I'm not dissing it or anything, I think this is kinda interesting really. Just think if some straight-edge fucking pig rolled in here and read this though. This thread might seal his ignorant belief that psychedelics cause brain damage.
If someone could post a link to some information on this topic that would be sweet. I believe this is possible and definately worth looking into.

I enjoy commune with the trees as much as possible. They are the Earth's memory you know, or at least part of it.. observing... breathing..

back in prehistoric times, this plant in africa used to grow right, and giraffes would feed off it, so they developed thorns, so the giraffe evolved a long tongue and so the trees grew higher so the giraffe evolved a long neck and finally the trees evolved this chemical they emit when a giraffe is eating them, that other trees nearby sense, and they then step up production of this poison in their leaves right so its like biological warfare innit.

Hell motherfucker yeah. Who here thinks that trees have a consciousness? I mean, they obviously can't talk like us. They obviously don't have an actual brain. But who says that you need a brain to be able to have "thoughts", or at least to strore a consciousness?
Science assumes that animals, plants, etc. aren't capable of this kind of thing, just because they have a different anatomy than us, and our parts responsbile for say thoughts are not in them, so they don't have thoughts. That's quite the assuming if/then statement, inn'it? (I have stolen your phrase now, and will probably use it off and on now.. there's just something about it.... reminds me of Benny Hill....)
