Sorry I know it's a little off topic but can anyone explain why "Crests" are so popular or sought after, what species they are, and anything else about them and how I get one?

Crested are rare depending on the species and form interesting shapes and designs. Some collectors like crested/monstrose cacti for the novelty and rarity while some think they are sick/freaks/sad and rather not have them.

Crested and monstrose cacti can occur with any species however some occur more frequently than others.

Thanks for that answer... I did some research on them, and apparently it's a RANDOM but RARE mutation, so any of my cactus could start to turn into a monstrose cacti at any time or what?

Apparently there is some variation to the 'potency' of the cactus do to geographical variation.
