Re: Lophophora Williamsii var. Caespitosa pup grafted to Pereskiopsis [Re: Solipsis]

I don't know exactly what flowering depends on, size is just one factor. My oldest lophophora has flowered once and never since then, I have some that flower every year and others that have yet to produce. Most are similar size so there's other factors involved too.

No update in a little while, but from left to right, my original Caespitosa, followed by a pup grafted from that mother plant and degrafted, lastly a pup taken from the other graft.

Looks as if it's time to degraft that thing.

It's sturdier than it probably looks, though changing the soil mix wouldn't be a bad idea it hasn't been changed in over 4 years.
I've still got an impale grafted trichocereus that the pereskiopsis has bend under the weight of.

Still don't want to degraft this though. It is getting tempting to remove a few of the pups from it now.

About 8 years since I started this thread.

Well over due I repotted my original caespitosa peyote. Seriously root bound... oops. No wonder it was making slow progress

Still plenty of room in it's new pot to make a new start.

The original graft I made is still going well. Wondering if this could do with repotting too :smirk:

And finally the second graft, now spanning about 4" as a ball with pups gradually hiding more of the root stock around the graft. At 7 years old, it's weird thinking it's around the same age as my youngest child. Wonder what it could look like when it hits 18 years!

To think now between this graft and my other peyote. I've one tray with about 56 seedlings and another tray with about 100 seed in gradually germinating. Still got all the seeds from last year and no doubt I'll soon have too many to know what to do with.
