BAD IDEA: Reality TV show about Spore Vendors 6

I was recently emailed by a reality TV producer to do a reality TV show on the mushroom industry. This producer currently has several hit reality tv shows.
Of course I would NOT do it. I'm posting this to discourage other spore vendors from doing something so stupid. Not only could this be really bad for our industry, but also puts customers safety at risk. I'm sure the FEDS would just love a reality show like this to gather information.
I'm not going to mention who the producer is but you will know if they contact you as well.
If we all ignore her hopefully she will move on and target a different industry.

I think the best solution is to ignore her or politely reply to her emails "not interested and it's a bad idea" I don't want to post her information here in fear some spore vendors might accept the offer for the money. Which BTW, nobody actually gets paid for these shows until the 2nd season.

Dont reality TV shows feed off of baby momma drama, and stuff like that? What kind of drama could there possibly be from following around a mushroom cultivator or anyone in this type of industry? Not that you guys are boring or anything. I just dont see the average american gathering around their TV's at a certain time, and day to watch something like that.
Are you sure the woman who called wasnt law enforcement trying to get an angle to get in your business?

I've seen some reality tv documentaries on medical marijuana growers in CA and what they all they go through to avoid getting their crops taken by DEA and from thieves and it was quite entertaining. And sure enough some of those growers crops got confiscated the very next season after doing the filming. There are a lot of documentaries on this subject on Netflix streaming service and Amazon Prime. Also have you seen the show "Moonshiners" about the hillbillies making there moonshine in the mountains avoiding getting caught or stolen. Also quite entertaining due to all the stupidity. One of moonshiners is even the fire chief of there mountain fire station. Not like he is going to be hard to find after doing all that illegal activity on a TV show. She didn't call me, she emailed me with all her credentials of there network and it all looked legit to me, and the shows she has produced are indeed on TV now. Looks legit to me. Also these reality shows never focus on just one person, they find many people in the same industry and follow them all around for more entertainment value. So I'm sure she has or will contact other people in the mushroom industry.

I'm glad that you posted this and that you refused. I hope all other vendors will do the same.
This is all bad. Eventually they might be able to convince someone to go along, and even one would be disasterous both for vendors and for this forum. Imagine the kind of influx of members and media attention we would get from a show like that. Jesus christ, this is bad.
Mods: What do you guys think about stickying this thread for a while?

Yes, good judgement, Ryche, all we need is a reality TV show about the industry mentioning this site and all. Bringing unwanted attention. Plus did they really think they would see where spores were made? We all know they come from amsterdam anyway. On a side note Moonshiners is a great show, but really, a bit short sighted to be blatently breaking a law on TV.
Your a good guy, along with every sponsor here, and hopefully they've got just as good judgement as you sir.
It would be a boring show after all, what's there to film? A guy sending an order and the recipient viewing spores

Wow, well this is just fucking great. Leave it to the media to fuck up a good thing. Well done on telling her no. I hope that every one has foresight to turn this down as well.

I watched the same shows on "Netflix" as well about the grow ops. I never understood why they would want to compromise their area to the public and everybody else for that matter, and you see what happens to most of them afterwords. Doesn't make sense. I hope none of the vendors will say yes to this. Only inviting problems, possible shut downs and probing of unwanted circumstances.

Yeah I could see this show leading to the blanket banning of spores if it goes through.

I say it was a good call to say no. The spore industry is a grey area of itself, and bringing any unnecessary attention to it would be detrimental to the industry. This would spark more interest for the dea to start having laws passed banning the sale of spores

My husband works in the reality TV industry... and from the inside it seems that they are looking at anything that be different enough to catch the eye of the watcher who knows nothing on that subject.
I think for our sake, this would be a very very very very bad idea, especially since what you see on tv is manipulated to be exactly how they want it to be. I'm not saying they're evil or anything, but in some situations (like this) the curious thrill-seeking public should find out about shrooms or any other sort of drug on their own, and not have it falsely fed to them as something it is not.

Well put. Mosts of reality TV is scripted and not reality.
