Im about to go shroomin,just wonderin' if someone could tell me what to look for in kentucky??????thanks for any replies!

Yeah, I'm from southwestern Ohio, so I think I'll be paying attention to this thread. I'm a newbie in the extreme. Never tried or.. hell, never even seen an active shroomie up close. But I am one of those people who will try anything at least once :wink:

I want to be able to say, "Ooooo.. Lookit the colors! O.o" at least once in my lifetime, haha.

you both need to use the search engine here and do a net-wide search.

you also need [if you haven't already] to read the mandatory stickie threads at the top of this form.

i'm not being rude, but without being familiar with the info contained therein there's little else i can tell you.

you should specify what type of mushrooms you are looking for [dedible, psilocybian, general] then find out which grow in your area you think you might be interested in [there's a section in the FAQ containing a partial list of active species by the states they occur in].
once you know what to look for you will need to familiarize yourself with the species [it's physical qualties, spore color, habitat, season, etc.] and then ask questions if there is anything else you need help with. if you know these things people around here will be verry helpful and treat you with more respect.

If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I read through them, visited links, and gathered up a nice lofty stack of notes and pics to gaze over as my mushroom hunting hobby blossoms. I can't wait to get out and see what kinds of interesting specimens I can find!
