movin to B.C. want all the info I can get
    #1492490 - 04/25/03 11:13 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I'm moving to B.C. very soon and I was hoping that somebody could post some advice, maybe a link to a good internet guide, link to a site with some good pics of shrooms, and maybe some basics on what I can expect (I'm a little nervous about my first hunt).

I'm moving to a town called Creston it's about 5 miles from the states and I think it's in the okanogan but I'm not sure, I'll get back with some more info on the location in a bit. can I expect to find shrooms this far inland or will I have to take trips through those awfull mountains to get closer to the shore?

please enlighten me or just say hi if your a fellow B.C. shroomer, thanks!

Hi User_Exists! Just a fellow BC Shroomer saying hi! I too am interested in hunting in BC this fall (Apparently this is the only time to find actives out here. Except for Blue Ringers, I think Mushroom John mentioned to me that they grow all year round). Anyways, if you find any info on hunting in the area could you direct me to it too? I'll do the same for you if you want. Also, if anybody in the Vancouver area wants to go hunting with me this fall please PM me, I'm new and really could use an experienced guide!

Creston's in the Kootenays dude. The only mushrooms I've heard of anybody finding around here are liberty caps. The mountains are irritating in that they aren't good for providing huge grasslands, which is what is needed. I know Creston has some good flat grass/farmland grazed by animals and such, so there are sure to be some fruiting around there.

I waited all last fall for the rain to hit so that I could get out there and go on a liberty cap hunt, but when the sunny weather finally ended and a rainstorm came in, everything froze right away. 'Twas a shitty buzz. A shitty buzz indeed. So why you moving to Creston, and why don't you know it's exact location?

Liberty caps grow well in mountainous areas. They are common in Peru at 4000 to 7000 feet. Same in the Alps in Italy, Austria and Switzerland to name a few places where they care common on mountain areas.

Liberty caps. They are a pastureland mushroom needing tall rank grasses and manured soil. They do not grow directly from manurte.

right that's what I figured.. the mountains are covered in forest here, and nobody bothers clearing them for pastureland because it's so steep everywhere. There are some valley bottoms that are clear, but that's it, so there are limited liberty cap habitats around here.

Focus, where you find cyans? Down on the coast I'm guessing? Vancouver?
