I just went out looking in a place close to my home, and just before giving up hope, something drew my eyes down to the ground. It looked similar to so many that i had seen earlier today, but instantaneously, somehow i knew, i had found them. I found about 10-15 good sized cyanescens. here are a few pics. lemme know what you think. And to anyone who has dealt with these before, about how much weight would you say that i have here? I'd like to preserve these to show to people, so what is the best method of drying and preserving? and how long do i have to dry them before they start to go bad? (yes, im still a newbie at this) thank you in advance :)

Very nice wavy gravy find! I would say just off the top of my head that you might have about 3-4 grams dried there...just an estimate, all depends on how wet they were when you picked em. Should be more than eneugh for a memorable experience. Cheers

its hard to tell from the pictures, but they were blueing so much that they were almost turning black. I think these are really potent ones. I ended up drying them by putting the oven on warm (approx 100-120 degrees), putting them on the middle shelf, on top of a paper towel, leaving the door cracked, and left them there for a few hours until they were dry. Meausred to about 4.2-4.3 grams dry. Im so excited. i have never found these kind before, and it was always just a dream that i would be able to expereince them.... i just have to wait for the right time now...im sure it will present itself soon. A crazy thing. I hunted for them in the morning, just before i had to go to work, and on my way to work, i looked down at my pants, and in dirt, there was a little happy face: two eyes and a mouth. It was weird...hehehe :o) I just hope that i get to find more...

Damn! I found my first this year, too. The first 16 caps I found weighed out to 1.9g dried, and the second batch from a patch ~80 miles away were pretty much the same size on average (much more plentiful, though ) They were growing in thick matted grass in an open shrubby area, not on woodchips or mulch. Maybe that's why?
