My first hunt :) *pics*

I just got back from drill today, and I went on my first hunt. Since it has been very dry the past few days (but humid) I was only out on a 'spot' hunt for future possible hotspots of our little friends.

It was amazing how I never saw any mushrooms before while hiking, but now that I'm looking for them, they're all over the place! I find it very fascinating that they come in all sizes, shapes, colors, textures, you name it! I think I am hooked, and I can't wait for it to rain :smile:

I did find a freaking **AWESOME** spot for possible future growth. I apologize for the blurriness.. The mosquitos seemed to enjoy my company, and decided to invite me to a snack buffet. This area is highly forested, right next to a creek, and the general area is very, very, VERY humid.





Beautiful, isn't it?

On my way back, I found this little beauty. Nothing special, really, just its perfect shape and beautiful gills. The diameter of the cap was only about 1 1/2 inches, and was about 2 1/2 inches tall.






And this next pic is just disgusting.. I don't know what it is, and I don't really wanna find out what it is.. but I'd thought I'd post it anyway because of the weirdness factor.. This pic was taken down by the creekbed, growing out of the split tree from the pics at the top of this post. Nasty :frown:

You can bet I will be hiking my butt out there after it rains :laugh:

It is supposed to rain tonight and all day/night Monday. I can't wait!! :nut:

Nice spot.

Remember that, if you want an ID, you should pick the mushroom(s). First, then you can get a spore print. Second, then you can answer questions about them and tell us things you didn't think to look for at first.

That mushroom is definitely cool. I'd want a spore print before guessing.

Nah, southwestern Ohio. I have heard that northwestern Ohio is a better climate for active mushrooms, but I personally believe that given the right temperature, humidity, and everything, who knows what you could find.

All these years I've cursed about living out in 'the sticks' hehe.. But now that I have an interesting hobby to do out here, its not so bad! :smile:

One thing though, my mosquito bites are itching like crazy, haha.. Time to get some benadryl cream and some bug repellant!! :smirk:

Geez, wtf is up with my camera.

I put new batteries in it yesterday, and now they are completely dead. I only used my camera, in total yesterday on my hike, about 10 minutes. In zooming/photographing, and uploading of the pics (which most of them turned out corrupted)

Blah, I was gonna go out hunting today, but without my cam, its only half the fun.
