you just claimed you didnt say that shit

Did you even read what I just posted? I'll copy it again for you below... I said that saying someone believes they are mentally unstable (one of the major reasons anyone sees a psychiatrist) does not automatically mean they should be disqualified from owning a gun.

They were seeing a psychiatrist and thus obviously mentally unstable in some way.  =/= anyone who is seeing a psychiatrist should not be allowed to purchase a gun.

Let me clarify further: having a mental instability does not mean you are likely to become a murderer. Anxiety is a mental instability, as is depression and neither of those things alone makes you any more likely to become a murderer and should thus not be the sole reason someone isn't allowed to have a gun.

Saying "They were seeing a psychiatrist and thus obviously mentally unstable in some way." is very clearly not the same thing as saying  "anyone who is seeing a psychiatrist should not be allowed to purchase a gun."

You have a degree in psychology, which is not about the scientific aspect(neuroscience) nor the medical aspect (psychiatry) and you don't practice in the mental health field.

Not just unstable people, people who are so unstable that they are a danger to themselves and those around them. There are varying degrees of instability which you should know about due to your degree, sweetie. :smirk:

I'm ten for Pete's sake. I think maybe your appointment calendar's squares got juggled. I'm the potentially gifted ten-year-old tennis and lexical prodigy whose mom's a continental mover and shaker in the prescriptive-grammar academic world and whose dad's a towering figure in optical and avant-garde film circles and single-handedly founded the Enfield Tennis Academy but drinks Wild Turkey at like 5:00 A.M. and pitches over sideways during dawn drills, on the courts, some days, and some days presents with delusions about people's mouths moving but nothing coming out. I'm not even up to/yet, in the condensed O.E.D., much less Quebec or malevolent Lurias.

Of the fact that photos of the aforementioned . . . liaison being leaked to Der Spiegel resulted in the bizarre deaths of both an Ottawan paparazzo and a Bavarian international-affairs editor, of an alpenstock through the abdomen and an ill-swallowed cocktail onion, respectively?

And it strikes me I've definitely seen that argyle sweater-vest before. That's Himself's special Interdependence-Day-celebratory-dinner argyle sweater-vest, that he makes a point of never having cleaned. I know those stains. I was there for that clot of veal marsala right there. Is this whole appointment a date-connected thing? Is this April Fools, Dad, or do I need to call the Moms and C.T.?

Except for required nonsense my entire curriculum  in psychology was 100% the scientific aspects of it, including biochem, physiological psych and comparative anatomy.  Further, I have had to deal with the field in re people in my family and have remained extremely current.  You?  Not so much.

No, I'm saying the field advances rather quickly and that not practicing does lead to a loss of knowledge. Are you arguing that memory that is not exercised is not lost over time?

No, I said that people who are so unstable that they are a danger to themselves and other should not have access to firearms. There are varying degrees of instability/irregularity, you know. Someone with mild anxiety has a mental instability but that doesn't mean they're a danger to anyone.

I'm in the middle of the exact same type of education right now, but more rigorous and I'm actually going on to complete more education after undergrad. If anything I'm getting more updated information than was even known during your college years. Tell me how you know so much more than me because you're older and thus were able to attend college before I was.

ORLY?  Then when do you get to the part where you realize that they don't know shit?  For me it was freshman year when they taught us about all of these mutually exclusive theories.  If you get ten different theories, none of which are conclusively backed by research, you have a choice to make.  Either 9 are nonsense or 10 are nonsense.  I went with 10 and have seen exactly nothing to disabuse me of the notion that I was absolutely correct.

More rigorous?  And how was your calculus class?  And your chem 101 and 102?

See you were learning psychological theories whereas I'm learning the molecular biology involved with the brain and other aspects of neuroscience.

Calculus sucked, I'm retaking it to get an A. Chem 110, 111, 112 and 210 all went swimmingly, thanks.

I believe I made it clear that I avoided that as much as possible after freshman year.  Psych 101.  They still required us to take some bullshit.  I'm sure they still require you to do the same thing.  Or are you not getting a psychology degree?

Please tell me where you think they know what the fuck they are talking about, by the way.  I'd be interested to know.

are you saying that zappa is incapable of keeping up with these things in his

through the same sources available to everyone with an interest, it's not like
the knowledge is telepathically sent only to psychologist in the yellow pages

Dude no matter what way you look at it Psychology is a weak science.

Sure you had to take some real science classes to get that degree but the main psychology classes are a joke

Just curious what was the highest math you had to take?

Stats?

Biology is by far the most enjoyable of the sciences IMO.

Now physics majors... i got so mad respect for those crazy fucks

One shooting. Every other day. the logical reason is the number of people killed by guns in this country. Tens of thousands every year. No other country comes close. Our way doesn't work. Lets try something new. All the evidence shows guns make violent crime deadlier. These are facts I'm not going to argue them anymore. You should at least argue your position honestly.
