Which is why I think veganism is overall pretty foolish.

What is wrong with eating those eggs? Why apply such a needlessly rigid system to what you eat? Why can't you judge it on a case by case basis and not have to structure your diet around criteria that don't even always make sense?

I think you can. Don't go by what that dude's saying. I'm sure the majority of vegans would be fine with drinking milk from a sacred cow in India for example.

It seems alot of this thread is about non-vegans saying what a vegan can and cant do...

What a load of bull!!
If your vegan its completely up to you what you want to put in your body and that includes if you want to eat eggs you farm yourself or honey or whatever.
No one is assessing you or keeping records on who is the best vegan or who eats a better diet.

As long as you make peace with it yourself there is no problem! Just do whatever feels right to you.

Now excuse me whilst I eat some veal  :strokebeard2:

So where's the bear going to live who could have lived in your cave?

I wont live in a damned cave, I'll exploit the bees and chickens, I'll murder
all the woodland creatures and eat like a king,  I will wear their skins and
bathe in their blood all so the bear can have a home...  SAVE THE BEARS!

No, a lot of this thread is about illustrating how people who are vegan are trying to do something that is impossible and quite likely even undesirable according to their very own ethics if you look close enough. That doesn't make the ideal of not wanting to hurt or exploit animals any less commendable though. It's just, well, a little impractical.

Help me out, I'm confused - are you going to kill, eat and wear the skins of vegans or bears, or are the bears going to eat the vegans? Just trying to get things clear.

Of course it is. My cave/bear remark wasn't entirely random, neither was my remark about wheat that comes at the cost of animal life. The fact that you live and need nourishment means that animals have less space, water and food.

Like I said, it's a great ideal, but a sense of realism goes a long way too.

I eat vegan 97% of the time, and I eat honey. I call myself vegan if people ask because people tend to be really curious (or judgmental) when you don't eat what they eat, for some goddamn reason, and "vegan" is a good word to use because people know what you mean.

I don't care that much about bees, though. They can slave for humans, not such a big deal. You can't really compare it to the egg and dairy industries. Because they're bees.

Well apparently so. I was under the impression that veganism was against the exploitation. Where as now I see the stone definition is No animal products ever..being compared to Janism. Fuck that. I don't agree with the farming of chickens for eggs but if I have some rescued hens I'm going to eat those fucking eggs. Not going to leave them to rot.
Someone put me in a category quick. This feels weird

Not all vegans are vegan because they like animals...

Many athletes go vegan or part time vegan as they perceive it has many nutritional benefits.

Theres even vegan bodybuilders, mma fighters, ultra athletes....

Mostly because they have well developed nervous systems and can comprehend their situation and experience pain, stress etc.
For the same reason I have a problem with murder but not with the morning after pill.
