India is an introverted culture.
In the 19th century, when pioneer hypnotists James Braid and James Esdaile worked in India, they were able to successfully perform as many as 300 whole limb amputations, painlessly, without chemical anaesthesia, because trance states and altered states in general, are built into that culture.

I was told a story during my first training in hypnosis about the advent of the water-cooled machine gun by Germans in WW I. Tens of thousands lay dying and pain killers were gone. The British sent hypnotists onto the field to allay the suffering. It required the desparation of critically injured soldiers to acquiesce to hypnotic treatment for pain cessation. I do not know if the story has any veracity, but an extraverted European mentality would probably have to be under critical duress to 'shift the assemblage point' sufficiently to accept such treatment.

The Kiersey consistently gives me INTJ, but I know from 30+ of experience administering, scoring, and reading that the MBTI is the accurate instrument. I am decidedly NOT an INTJ, but rather, and INTP, as is my Lady. The MBTI is a legitimate psychological instrument, copyrighted and only legitimately available to mental health professionals. So, I would surmise that others who come out as an INTJ, are probably not. One would have to subject a large number of MBTI takers to the Kiersey to see how that instrument is skewed.
