US states petition to become there own countries whats this mean?
    #17211323 -

Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas

Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

VOTES: 63,235 WE NEEDED 25,000
I know that it's a petition to become it's own country and I'm kind of happy as fuck but this is what caused the last Civil War but I'm just happy that were telling Obama to eat a dick. 20 states right after Obama was elected I'd cry to. :burke: I love this shit.

So i'm just confused if this is just going up to vote or is this shits legit supposed to happen to my state now. I know that people do petitions to have laws re-voted on would this be the same way. Were like the Great Divide ice creme again. :sunspots: No wonder he cryed after he won. Do you want the good or bad news firs.AND WE ARE ALL LAUGHING AT YOU BE HIND OUR SMILE  :aweshit:

It means nothing.  The magic number of 25,000 was just an arbitrary goal set by the poster of the petition.

Yea but once a petition gets a certain number of sigs then they have to vote on it. It goes on the platform. That's how MJ is becoming legal. I'm just not sure how it would work for some thing like this.

The end date for the petition is December 09, 2012

25,000 is not just a number each state has a set limit for how many signatures are required be for there forced to vote NA or YA for it on the platform im just not sure how this would work with being a separate country.

No...that's now how it works.  Some states have a direct referendum process by which a petition with enough signatures can get an issue on the ballot, but that isn't what this is.  This is some meaningless online petition of unverified signatures.  It means nothing and will go nowhere.

In addition, if a particular state did pass a referendum to secede, that referendum would be void.  It is has been established for nearly 150 years that states do not have the right to secede.

An online petition isn't worth the paper it isn't printed on.

No sir. It would mean we'd go to civil war. It's certain the central authority wouldn't permit it but it would take military force to stop it. The state of Texas is roughly the size of Iraq. Texans in the Federal Army would probably mutiny and there would be war, bloody civil war. Remember too that the state of Texas was formerly the Republic of Texas and special accommodation was made when they entered the Union. They can by the vote of their legislature break their state in three parts creating new states or leave the Union at will. If they did succeed it would mean nothing more or less than civil war as the US Government never honors it's treaty agreements when it is more powerful than the party it made the treaty with.

I hear that shit. Once we invade a country we never leave. Our message is that were there to help which is a load of BS. Our military morals and beliefs that are brainwashing the soldiers and the people who believe them and believe mainstream news. This is one of the main reasons so many people in other countries hate Americans. The ones that follow them along and believe every little syllable ruin it for the rest of us normal joes of the planet that just happen to live here. I live in Texas and I'm very aware of it's history with America and the fact we can leave again any time we want because of our treaty. I do agree there is going to be a civil war and I wont be a part of it. Drafting is for people that give a shit what the government says. What are they gonna do through us in FEMA camps.

Not necessarily.  it would certainly be void however, just like every other direct referendum that has been deemed unconstitutional.

I think that's a pretty unrealistic prediction

When large geographic locations want to engage in a business activity the central government wants to suppress civil war happens. When states declare independence and the nation they're succeeding from doesn't like it civil wars happen. And since there are probably nuclear weapons in Texas it means that they'd only have to get a hold of those for it to actually succeed. I believe that a disproportionate number of soldiers are Texans too. Not to mention the ones that would side with them because they believe it's the right thing to do.

You're a lawyer with much better references than I have. Surely you can find a famous and historical document like the Treaty the united states of america signed with the Republic of Texas. lol

There was no provision for secession, counselor....

In fact, in Texas v. White, the SCOTUS specifically finds that Texas was always a part of the union since it joined, despite Texas' claim of secession during the war of northern aggression.

That has nothing to do with the Treaty, you didn't even look it up. SCOTUS cases are irrelevant to the enforceability of treaties. Texas had sided with the confederacy and was defeated and that case rubbed their nose in it is all. Get your head out of your hindquarters and look up the treaty for yourself, counselor.

Seems like it would be much easier for you to just link to it.

Edit: and paste the section that you think is on target.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

I know that there is a treaty they told us that in the history books for 12 years. I'm just not sure where it is. There has to be a treaty if we were the Republic of Texas and then we joined some where. That would never happen with out some kind of written some thing. I think every state has nuclear weapons doesn't it. Your right about one thing. America splitting is going to make us a target to a lot of other countries. No one really likes us according to what I've experienced.

There sure as fuck is going to be a war if this happens. The yahoo new story said one of the senators were urging texas to split.

Quote from Yahoo story itself:

Not everybody who wants to secede is polite enough to write a petition. Peter Morrison, treasurer of the Hardin County (Texas) Republican Party, wrote a post-election newsletter in which he urges the Lone Star State to leave the Union.

"We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity... Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years."

Wrong, counselor.  All treaties are subject to the Constitution of the United States.  Any unconstitutional provision in a treaty is void.

On top of that, there is NOTHING giving texas the right to secede in any document related to Texas becoming a state.  You seem to want me to prove that, but how would I do that?  Should I quote the exact portion that says nothing about it?  Don't you think it would be much easier for you to quote the portion that gives texas that right?

And how could President Grant readmit Texas to the Union if it was already part of it as that case stated? That case contradicts the documented historical events and timeline. It was a war time dictatorship and the court was operating as a part of the dictatorship.
