Re: Poetry jam?? [Re: lilhippiegirl]

I have built a city in my mouth
not only a city but
a polite and timely world
fastened to my tongue.
The planet lifts and laps,
shaking loose it's population,
snatching them back moments
before impact with the stars
gravity or shyness bolts down
the sky-scraping towers of well-kept whispers;
(syllables and Elmer's glue smile with the weight
of secrets trapped behind popsicle-stained lips)
mud blooms fragile petals
concocted from notes unsung
fearing the probing eyes that linger
beneath corer side bus stops:
and in this land of shackled outbursts
three small children dance to
dumbstruck symphonies
as if the stillness stifling,
can breathe an orchestra of lovely-weather-today
they beg
to step acrossed the edges of the quiet
doggedly brave and rehearsed-
and then the shape of your nose
sends them scurrying back to safety
and they do not speak
(and do not stumble)
It's really only a matter of time
before the eight letters,
three
  small
      words,
that only swimming dreams have whispered
slips into your ears
as you steal them from my mouth
fluent in silence,
we speak mountains

      (I love you)

They are a thousand glittering sparks
of fantasy,
untouchable moments
scattered
acrossed the tapestry of blackness and
of night.
forever about the absolute madness
that is this place one can never seem to escape from,
nor understand.
They are a thousand pieces of the beautiful simplicity
that is so lost to the souls of us all.
Their magic, their splendor, their incomprehensible contentment
is the truth of something greater
that what i shall ever know.
so likely,
I lone not only to gaze upon their consistent brilliance,
but to reach as far as humanly possible
until a strain is brought to my fingertips,
making physical the feeling
that have long since burned in my very own soul.
Yes, I long to touch them,
to feel their magic racing into my heart
as i grasp one in my hand,
as I steal a bit of the unfathomable
purity...
and keep it for myself
Perhaps the longing deep inside me
will finally  be quenched with
the final content exhale
as I release my smothering fist and reveal it all,
and thus....
I may finally understand.
But they are forever untouchable, unreachable,
scattered reflections
of the deepest light in my spirit.

So underneath the stretch of the night sky,
I lay alone.
Still-
on incredibly small,
very insignificant shadow
lying beneath the stars

And then there's days
when the blues
play deep in your soul,
sad songs,
sung in harsh tones.

I'm not unhappy,
but as the frost
engulfs the trees,
I am also growing
increasingly cold...

Happy heart
Distracted mind

Wish relief,
in whiskey rivers,
yet responsibility
looms heavy
like black storm clouds

But there's calm oceans
and smooth sailing
guaranteed

Forever was created to break me,
To show me that nothing
Can end so abruptly
As my mind.

It's always the same,
You know.
Hopeless clichéd
Car crash.
[I look so pretty shattered]
…And somehow no-one notices
That I've had a collision
Again.

I'm sick of whispering,
If Only.
Because the sand-grains don't care
If I want to go back,
And there's a gaping hole
In the hourglass anymore.

Somewhere above me
Time stands still as
Every star in the night sky
Seems to sing,
I love you.
And I'm running out of excuses
For how I was just too distant to be noticed,
For how I don't know how to shine.

And I just want to be free.
Life's too short to avoid hysterics,
To paint the skies anything but blue;
I seared apologies to the
Lining of my ribcage.
Darling, I didn't mean to become this…
But Forever just got in my way.

sad smoke falls
after distrution,
like dead leaves
from the trees
they cry like me
knowing that all
may be lost...

the victor has been
-claimed-
in this battle of
the loved and the broken...

people still curled in
hollow shells
waiting for a sign
but left hopeless,
when none is to be
seen...

screams can be heard
through the mountains
in the mist of
-devastation-
betraied by those
you thought were close
friends...

and when all has fallen
hushed...
you can clearly
see the dreams are gone
from their faces...

blank eyes
and empty souls
are all that's left
of the happy people
who thought they could
survive..

Her voice peeled like
antique-house enamel;
Sharp intakes.
breathe out
let out
scream out
die out.

…she's living waterproof radios
with her eyes all aligned.
and she wants to know what it's like to be
touched

by something more than shower water,
to empathize
with the way that the faucet
screams.
so
silenced.

and when it's over,
she'll stand dripping in the cold,
with excuses shorn like clothing.
watching the layers of fog dissipate.

Waiting for a glistening ardor
to tell her she's pretty
like the bathroom mirror never could.

She's gold and she glitters
like her earnest, hopeful jewelry
adorning her canvas skin like a
nervous smile.
She aims only to please you.

You don't notice how her wrists shake
when you reach to hold her hand.
You see only that she's wearing your favorite-
shining eyes.
And somehow, you can't keep from grinning.

And you marvel how she always
finds that perfect place to rest her head.
And how her lips always taste
so sweet
when you sneak in that first kiss.

Now, her hands are clasped loose behind her back
and her necklace gleams gold on her throat.
You can no longer imagine
living alone-
And that's alright.

So you watched her with the lights on,
and the sun drifting lazily through the blinds.
She's standing there so brave, and she used to be
so shy..
She'd do anything you asked of her, but you ask nothing.

Staying there so open, and anxious,
You look at her now and you know-
That once there was her, there would be
no one else.
And if she ever left, you'd be lost.

She's smiling a song, and it blocks out the rest.
You open your arms and hold her to your chest.
Her love is left in little circles of saliva on
your skin
until you don't know where you stop, and where she begins.

And when it's over then you'll smile
with your arm around her shoulders as
she looks down every few steps to keep time
with yours.
As if it were fate, when really it's precision.

Tic...
Toc..
Tic...toc...

Silence

But for the unfaltering snaps of that
committed traitor to eternity
as it marks the death of each moment.
As it clicks, potent to the cadence of
each lonely breath, you supposed it is
rash to speculate...
Will there come an end to the rhythm?

Perhaps

If the power of a thousand clashing lives
did not overshadow the sound that binds every soul,
that sound would be more sympathetic....
empathetic.

You pull your collar around your neck,
Grasp it until your knuckles are white
against the chill that began with
a wisp of wind through your hair,
and now melds
with frozen simplicity in your heart.

Silence

Isn't it lovely to betray the tumultuous city with
your perpetual refusal to glance before you...

Into the face of the clock?

Why face the despicable time-stealer?
It has the uncanny abitity of making
a coward out of you.

Look around you.
Look around you,
not so swiftly,
not so reluctant...
Look around yourself
slowly...
Gaze acrossed the narrow street
lined with civilization,
lined with turmoil.
Lined with life.

The careening alley to your right
twists and bends just out of site.
Shrouded with shadows enough to blind,
abandoned throughout the expanses of its wind,
don't let your flustered mind assume.

Glace casually to your left
that raucous group of teens is deft.
Do you hear their rowdy cries
as their unfortunate target dies?

Better turn; you could be next

At the crossroads waits a girl
her sweater soft, just like her curls.
Her eyes are dark, she wants a fight
into the star-filled bliss of night

Better warn her it's dense in the city....

Not a star above your head,
Just a sky that's nearly dead
with heavy layers of lies
and the dust of smothered cries
rising...
rising...
into the air
better tell that new girl there

She smiles and nods and turns around
Perhaps she saw the pain through your frown.
Stare ahead, forget her face,
carry on at a decent pace.
She was hardly worth your time...
It all was hardly worth your time

City dissonance thrashes in your ears
Drowning out the shrieks of your fears.
Children cry, they laugh, they speak,
does their innocence make them weak?
A crowd of men cuts through your vision
their injured eyes are a cruel incision.
The bold city night makes you small
forget you're gall, you're engulfed in it all.
You've realized, you know, you've seen.
You don't know where all the sense has been
Deafening, bold, blinding, malicious...
It makes the tic of the clock seem gracious.

Silence

But for the unfaltering snaps of that
committed traitor to eternity
as it marks the death of each moment.

The death of a human second,
the birth of a human revelation.

Tic...
Toc...
Tic...toc...

As you carry on through the night,
You grasp your collar and
You see the secondhand snap forward upon the tower.
You hear a thousand voices interlocked with the distinct sound of it.
You feel moments slip through your loose fingers...
the wind flips.
You smell the city in which you've lived your entire life.

You're still living,
Do not turn your back,

Silence...

You're the junk in my needle
My secret thought
The ticking Beat
Pour
Black coffee
Two sugars
That's it
Light
One smoke
Newport
That's it
God doesn't mind
when he's not even real
Pour me a drink
Make me feel
You wore me
and tore me up at night
Then kissed me
And held me
Made me think it was right
You're the hyper sane
In the world of mad
I'm a spinning child
In a lost dream of sad
Pour
Black coffee
Steaming
That's it
One smoke
Winston
That's it
I shoved you up my nose
Till I saw stars
Now lost, alone, so far
Bring me back
I'm shaking
Your
Blood
Cum
Shit
Needing
You in me
I'm a ghost in the dark
Screams in the night
The scars on your heart
The love in your sight
I'm everything and nothing
A women and a child

There's a dark thing that looms
In the corner of the room
Soaking up secrets

It knows the truth
it can see through the masks
tht we hide behind
how lonely and sad
we really are inside

I'd give anything
for us to be happy again
I'm just so tired
of playing pretend
I'm frustrated and angry
and crying for help

I'm drowning in sorrow
and can't seem to climb
my way out

If only...
If only you just give me your hand
I'd have some support
Somewhere to stand.

You said "murder" like you meant it this time

you made an ocean of my bed
and the curtains were the clouds,
but i preferred summers that didn't smell of
anorexia and unbridled sex.

I'm living a teenage royal fucking fantasy
on the corner of every street as we
watch pre-teens poor gasoline
and take too deep of breaths.

These toxic fumes are incense of a hell-bound city.

It reminds me when all the lights went out
in every house on the block.
so i burned my bra and watched you set flame
to the trees
until the police arrested us for property damage.

(just in time for the cars to explode)

And maybe one day I won't have to deal with
catholic high school bullshit
that questions my sexuality and
confuses a feminist for a Nazi.

Don't tell me only ugly girls start revolution
'cause I'll still be looking my best when
we reform this city into a new-born hell.

I'll let the smoke weave through my dress
and dance in the ashes of the american flag.

 That's great you have so much. The need to express is essential, and to be able to express it is great!

This is something I had written down in a little note pad while I was at college sitting in my car between classes. I was feeling somewhat despondent, yet somewhere in me, hope lies. How life is a giant roller coaster of hope and hopelessness, sort of a rat race, yet so meaningful and purposeful. I don't normally share this stuff because I don't personally like  Anyway, here it is

A world so lost
Unaware of the cost.
As we search for reason
In our delusional season.

One in the same we all remain
A light blocking shadow
In an endless rain

No future left to hold
We paint the day in gold
And the lies that we've been told
Are the only truths we're sold.

To perceive our lives through open eyes
Will surely deafen us from our anguished cries
And to cleanse the doors, forevermore
Will awaken the truth we've been searching for

I know the day will come
That we see we're all one
And when all is said and done
We'll find life has just begun.

You are very prolific!

Stream of consciousness is all I know.

I have nothing to say
It's a shitty fucking day, work hard die
pass on that pay.
HEY that's not your, you worked for something that needs to be given
your wasting your life so please start living

Steal my mind, i'll replace it with time
Spend it on something that for sure i'll leave behind
It sounds so static and i don't even care because time keeps on going
The river keeps on flowing
The ant keeps on going, mowing, eating the tree
Creates a spiral of infinity
A hidden world inside a hidden world with no recognition
No pay for his work but survival

They took our survival and traded it for coins
They took self sufficiency and traded it for loins
Another day is all you live to see but their mind is immortal it lives in infinity
But I've been there too and it's not what you think
Money doesn't matter when you drain down the sink
Sanity doesn't matter when you teeter on the brink

An owner owns nothing when time stops
a slave is enslaved by no one when lives drop
It's all just relative so make up your mind
are you leading the herd or just another lost blind?

PS. I suck at poetry, but like improving on things, this is probably my 4th attempt in my life.
