Shroomism - exactly. I'd guess that DEA agents at a Dead show think that the band and its fans are all drug-crazed fiends looking to avoid responsibility. Also, they probably (many other people do) the kindness of these people to being on drugs (they're nice because they're now apathetic and spaced-out). Unfortunately, it's difficult to change the minds of certain people.

president-elect al gore (& spouse tipper) attended many a dead concert back in their tie-dyed hazy youth years...
one can only hope that with the american people finally open enough to elect a 'nam vet & admitted doper to the nation's highest office that the time for repressive legislation against personal choices is passed... oh, wait a minute, the '00 election results were nullified...

well think of it from the other side of the fence. It is possible that these people who hold positions in jobs like that had very bad experiences with drugs either inderectly or directly. That might be thier way of trying to help people not make the mistake they made or witnessed.
