That sucks man, and sorry to hear that. If your record is pretty clean, then should just fine you, but im not sure. I have a couple of friends who had the same problem here in chicago, and they got let off with some fine and some community service because their record was pretty clean. Good Luck!

Yeah i was there and I heard about a lot of people getting busted, the DEA was manning roadblocks, state police helicopters flew over the fest site, and think there were undercover agents inside too, not busting but spying. Also they were pulling people over when they were going UNDER the limit, and saying they were going over, and that their dogs smelled drugs, that's probable cause now, they don't need warrents andymore. Also, they were confiscating people's money. Maryland cops are some of the worst in the country, hopefully that class action suit wins. Vulture, that sucks man, I hope it all works out for ya.

Police have a rather good purpose. I am pro law enforcement as its not the cops job to enact the laws as he or she sees fit. Currently, stealing cars is illegal, just like smoking pot. THis is why I have no sympathy for drug users who get caught. Yeah, it sucks, but you still knowingly broke the law and got caught.

So cops are good people because they?re "just following orders"? Would you let Hitler?s Nazi henchmen off the hook? They were just following orders.

I?m really sorry Vulture. The Shroomery loves you man. That?s all that matters.

No it isn?t. Hitler?s henchmen were executed for following orders. He said cops are ok because they?re just following orders.

Or how about this analogy, the guards at Abu Ghraib got into trouble for prisoner abuse even though they were "just following orders".

Right. But I think Mndfreeze was trying to say that if a cops job is to bust people with drugs, we need to blame the system for the fucked up drug laws, not the cops. They're just people with a job to do.

I'm sure lots of them take things way farther than they are told to though, and I have met a few of them. *muttering profanities under breath*

They chose to take a job in which they have to inforce unjust laws. That?s why I personally don?t like them.

Yeah I see where you're coming from. It is easy to judge though, and I think probably a lot of cops had the dream of being a glamorous fast driving hard assed dude from the time they were young, and probably are pretty ignorant when they go into the field about our laws. So yeah, ignorance sucks but we have to face that it is rampant. They are human too, and just want to be happy.

It is hard to find a decent job if your ideals are really high.  That is my problem. I'm going into nursing but I am personally NOT a big fan of our medical system. AT ALL. Of course, it does truly have it's place, but normally I don't participate in it.  And now I am going to be a huge part of it. I feel like a total hypocrite. But I guess at least I'll have a job that pays ok and is really flexible. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way about their work.  I am seiously considering going into psychiatry or psychology instead though. Sorry for rambling.

I said it was a bad analogy because enforcing the law by arresting people who BREAK the law is a lot different than torturing/killing people based on race/religion. I totally understood what you ment, I just don't think it's a very good comparison. You have a choice whether or not to do drugs (and you KNOW they are illegal, no matter how wrong that is), you don't have a choice to be jewish. There is a pretty big difference between American cops and Hitler's henchmen. You see what I'm getting at?

You're right Chiefthunderbong, but I still feel the way I feel. I understand that they are people. I believe that we're all one soul. If that's true, then cops are just me playing another part in this illusionary game.

Tell Phishgrrl I understand her as well and hope that she makes it as far as one can make it in whatever field she chooses.
