IMO who cares if they are idiotic. I have chosen to get some just for that reason. People take tattoo's to seriously. I think it's more idiotic when people sit and try to tell you about a tattoo's meaning when you can clearly tell that the person just got it because they thought it would look cool. I love seeing funny and idiotic tattoos. And these are my favorite people to associate with. I fucking love band tattoo's as well.
See I think tattoo's restrict you to a certain point in your life. My band tattoo's... everytime I see them it just sparks mad memories and brings me right back to my highschool days. fucking love it dude !
I think that is the most appealing thing about tattoo's. They will be there until the day you fuckin die. Who cares if you have to explain it to your kids or grandkids, boss etc. Fuckin tell them straight up- Hell yeah man I love this band x. Good times. I spent countless hours listening to them. So I spent hella time with them so I wanted to be reminded of them as much as possible man !
Some of my band's that I have tattoo's of I hardly listen to anymore and that is my favorite part. Music will always be my number one drug. It has helped me through my life more than anything else and will always remain as one of my motivating things to help me get up and go to shitty fuckin work and school everyday. I value certain bands so much that I am more than happy to get it shittily tattooed on my body. At least I have something I am willing to commit to forever..
At least I can look at my own skin and laugh at it and think "fuck yeah, I had a god damn awesome time growing up". No regrets man. If you regret a tattoo then you just need to get over it and not take it less seriously. Life is one big fucking joke and if you haven't figured that out yet then good luck enjoying it. Live lightly and you will enjoy it 10xfold.

I think the only time someone should be cautious of tattooz is when you are getting them in places that could jeopardize your future career's or relationships etc. Like hands, face, neck and such.

I think many people get tattoos for group acceptance, "look at me, I put a tattoo on my body just like you did, now we can hang out and share stories on how everyone hates our tattoos." Many gangs and military people started this trend, it's a bond that is created, or conformity and commitment to the group.
I mean putting band names on your body, how old your you? This is something I would expect a 14-15 year old would try to do, but a grown man. Who cares if you like the music, why put the band names on your body, do you put your favorite movies and TV shows on your body as well?
What I find funny is how many people are now getting their tattoos removed, this very painful and very costly procedure is now extremely popular as people have major regrets about having their tattoos.
Many people have the attitude like you do, life is a big fucking joke, live for the moment and be free, and get tattoos, and then 10 years later they are getting them removed.
Hahah. And ? Is that really the angle you are working ? what does other people getting their tattoo's removed have to do with me ? are you blind. I clearly said that you need to watch what you put on your body when it could affect your career. Which Mine don't and never will.
And no. I don't put my favorite shows and movies on my body because I don't watch television or movies. Rarely. I debated an Ipod tattoo though because I had a realization that my ipod might be my most important material possession and I would probably reach for the shotgun if I didn't have it. It's my life force man !. After my bike, that is.
I want my body to be like a humor toned reminder of the shit I was involved in throughout my life. I just don't know If I want any on my forearms and neck etc. That is hard fuck. I don't have the balls for that yet and I want all of mine to be well positioned. After this years tuition is paid for Im giong to get a couple recycling symbols on my feet. See I'm way into recycling. I just got a recycling program at my work started. It kicks so much ass ! I have been wanting a recycling symbol for years now ! the time has come boys.
I'm glad many people have the same attitude. When I look around me, I'm very proud to be surrounded by the people I am. Nothing but good hearted kids. I'm 23 btw. Pretty close to my associates and have a pretty sweet job. So why exactly is a band tattoo something that 14 year old would do and not something an adult would do. I volunteer at an animal shelter, have my shit together. Very mature. But I happen to like tattoo's of all types. I more than respect someone who choses not to get them but I can't seen why a blockhead like yourself cant get down and just realize that some people have other needs. I'm just a community college kinda guy, not very successful. But I'm very close friends with a handful of amazing kids that just kick ass as the university. Really smart and well read folk. And even they past my tattoos and just get down with me. I can't imagine why someone like yourself would struggle with it. People are people man. Tattoo's aren't a big deal. Just get over it.
I love how my tattoo's tie me a certain group/trend. I'll be the first to admit it. Sorry to break it to you brother but you're not an individual either. None of us are. There are far and few original people kicking around. If you try hard to be then you just wind up being one of those pricks who like to imagine that he unique, original etc. That's not something everyone in the world shares. Unfortunately. So I'm down to team up. When people see a tattoo on me they like it's a great conversation starter and gives them a good idea of what I'm into. And I go about other people in the same way. People love when you ask about their tattoos. They always just light up. I always make sure to acknowledge someones ink because I know that it means a lot to them. I can talk to people whether they comment on my tattoos or not. But it sure as hell is always more fun 
I absolutely love seeing an old man with a bunch of old hashed up grey wash tattoo's from his youth. Fuckin awesome. I never let them slide. They get bombarded with questions and I love hearing anything they have to say about them. Tattoos are a major interest to me. They are fuckin sick man. Humans have a huge history with them. The reasons for people getting them have changed over time but nonetheless, people still feel a calling to get committed to them. And I love that.
I think that irl you are quick to judge. I don't know you but that is how you come off. If you compared my social life to your I bet anything you would be jealous of what I have. I'm not some cool trendy guy but all of my acquaintances are prime people. PRIME. Honest, down to earth, loving, caring and interesting people. With tattoos ! and you're thinking "no way, people with tattoos are trash and novelties". I never try to divide myself of other types of people. I keep in mind that we are doing the same exact fuckin thing except with minor changes. Like I have a band tattoo so you are willing to cut your fellow man off because he has a tattoo. I'm not. I love people how they are for who they are. I don't sweat the little shit like you. You will die alone with that attitude.

Take some advice from someone that is happier than you are. Start just living and accepting everything. Get down with things instead of turning your nose at them. Help make this work a better place to live in instead of acting like some super suburban dick that is above everyone else. Your just a human like the rest of us. Sooner you understand that they better off you will be.
Where I'm coming from, No one is supposed to do anything. There are no lines between adults and kids. Unless YOU make them. As long as you do no harm then live your life how you want to bro. Fuck.. when I see a typical adult in the grocery, someone that you are probably in favor of. Some oober boring person doing the 9-5 that hasn't smiled since his college days. Yeah... I just turn and walk the other way. If that is what being an adult is all about then I want no part in it. I guess I will just choose to live responsibly and do what I want to do as long as it doesn't harm anyone.
It blows my mind how people draw lines between other people for something as petty as a tattoo or the type of car they drive. There is more stuff that I'm not into, or disagree with then things I do agree with but I never, EVER let that sway the way I receive or treat someone. I try to see people for who they are, then I cast the almighty judgement. I realize these things represent who we are but a lot of the time they are just product of that persons life at that point in time. Life is constantly changing. So quit doing yourself harm and just accept anyone who deserves it. Don't let something as stupid as a tattoo get in the way of you learning and growing from someone ! 
Sorry for the ramble peeps. I have a half hour to burn before work and my guitar is out of tune.
