crushing poverty and the desperation that comes from it is generally what fuels revolutions in other countries.

I think many here have a distorted view of average american life.  There is absolutely no reason for the some of the richest and most free generations in earth's history to stage a violent revolt.  People stage violent revolts to live like us.  And if you dont agree, you just have hippie angst.

Your revolution will be krushed, you like.

Even your population of medical marijuana toting liberals are wearing federal straight jackets.

No revolution will occur, because the majority are in favour of the status quo, it suits them... Sure, they might weigh 10 pounds less,
but they'd still be 100 pounds overweight.
You do the math.
People will still be fat and happy, even if things got 8-9 times harder than they are now...

Anyways Watcha gonna do?

"REvolution?"
BAH!
That's idealistic bullshit and you know it.
You can't win.

true, but as our standard of living decreases, the chances for civil unrest increases. i don't know if it'll happen in our lifetime but the age of the corporations will end with staggering, unprecedented bloodshed.

Nowadays there is way too much technology and surveillance to ever stage a successful revolution against their government.

Compare it back to the American Revolution - the people that were rebelling were already an overseas colony and the British had to send there troops all the way across the ocean to fight.  Not to mention the inferior naval technology back them, there was obviously delayed correspondence between British military officials in the colonies and those in the homeland.

Nowadays if a bunch of citizens form a mob and storm the White House they will just get bombed, or if the crowd is big enough, nuked.

Not to mention we rely on technology to communicate and correspond nowadays, which can easily be intercepted by government.

You truly believe that if a revolution occurred in any country in the world, they would just nuke those protesting? Why the fuck would anyone storm the White House? Is this what you imagine in terms of a 'Revolution'?

The whole post seems as though it would contain valuable information, but it doesn't. Obviously those protesting wouldn't use technology that could be intercepted as a means of communication. Also, you rely heavily on the idea that the military are brainless zombies waiting to carry out the governments instructions, regardless of the orders or their impacts.

No, a revolution could happen in many ways, I was just providing examples.  The military has superb technology that is far more advanced than the limited weapons that we have access too.  Unmanned drones, jet fighters, bombs, tanks, you name it.  A bunch of citizens with guns and napalm aren't going to cause any damage.  And even the weapons one could potentially find on the black market couldn't match the governments' weaponry.

And who the fuck are you kidding?  How is anyone going to organize a big enough crowd of people to revolt without internet, phones, etc?  You think someone is just going to go out in the street and start yelling "Follow me!" and a huge crowd will spontaneously form, with people armed with advanced weaponry, ready to go and take down the government?  How would they communicate, especially over long distances in this day and age without some form of technology?

the chances of the US arming turning on the purse that pays its salary is very very far off in fact. thats why that wont happen and thats also why civilian revolution wont happen either.

the fate of your nation is in the hands of the 'powers that BE'...

You Americans can't chance a fucking thing even if every citizen who didnt work for the government wanted to and THAT wont happen either.

...

REVOLUTION is usually a big word coming out of small brains, at least in US and a...
aint gonna happen, even though ironically i think that it might improve the health of your country but it wont happen.

the hillaries and the obamas and bernankes and all those ass holes, have got the strings on the puppetshow you dont know where the strings go so u cant cut them even if you tried snipping around in the dark with all your 'might'.

If the US government ordered the military to confiscate firearms, you would be incredibly surprised.

in what way?
you think they'd let people keep their guns?

Really?
Thats an interesting notion.
And then the government closes the wallet and then the army gets all pissed off..
and sides with the revolutionaries.
interesting.

but then if thats what could be expected to happen what's the likelihood of the government requiring the army to do that if they know it might cause the army to turn on them?

and that might be the only criteria with which the army could possibly be in agreement with a nationwide revolutionary movement.
Its not to say they might be for all the other points of reason
that keeps the revolutionary boat afloat...

They might totally disagree with wanting to overthrow the regime just insomuch as they want to oppress the people and cause a real stalemate too.
HEll, who knows.

But I bet I bet the hoodlums in charge of your government will stay there for a loooo OOooong time, remember how far back the federal reserve goes? That shit is so deeply ingrained in your country's political system its almost like its spine...

I can't imagine it working without it.

People are so hysterical about current affairs, I swear they need to switch off the TV and read a friggin' book for a change. Has it always been thus?

I personally feel that if a revolution occurred in the U.S. it would boil down to five or six separate revolutions. You'd have the Republic of California, which would suck up Oregon and perhaps Nevada and Washington; the Republic of Texas, which would gobble up Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona; Dixieland (southeast), and New England (northeast) with their old-school borders.

Oh, and I bet Utah would go apeshit and grab as much territory as possible. They would probably annex a bunch of the midwest.

Colorado would be America's answer to Switzerland, neutral and independent.
