THE NEXT REVOLUTION

I ingested some Lucy with a few friends the other day, and it occured to me that there may be a possibility for a futuristic 70s. If you think of it this way. I described history and happenings as loops, we have all heard the phrase history repeats itself. Well i was thinking it would be fucking awesome if there was a whole new wave of self freedom, Self liberty. Down with the opposing forces and onto self expansion. We probably wont be around to witness this but thinking there is a possibility for it definately soothes me.
Sidenote: The post on the island in Guinea def. made me think of this and what it would be like if this world was more luscious nature than factories, roads, etc. Maybe our evolution wont take us too jet packs etc, or maybe it will but then back again to the realization of the genius of SIMPLICITY
thats my rant for the night drop your feedback..take care

Wow, no one responded eh?
I'll take the helm of this thread and turn it around!
A futuristic 70's eh?
Wow, that is really some deep thoughts. Very interesting to read. Care to expand the thoughts next time? I'd like to read it.

A few questions:
How exactly would there be more 'self freedom' and 'self liberty'?
What is there left to try?

What freedoms and liberties do you have in mind?

By taking down the opposing forces, you become one yourself. You would be taking your opponents freedom and liberty away. Do you consider that fair?

Unfortunately, modern society has become too dependent and lazy to get back to the simple life. Nuclear war is about the only thing that will get us back.

there is a great gap betwine conventions and the individual viwes of the youth today (IMHO anyway...)
we have all this information circling around and new things come about everyday... just imagin what will happen 20-40 years from now in a couple of generations... will the individual be able to keep up with the rate of novelty? would everything blow up by then?

we already know that counter-culture & lsd inspired revolutions don't work.
history repeats itself, like he said. new revolution? same old failure.

This is a subjective opinion. I respect it, but also respectfully disagree. I know many people who are, on the contrary, extremely driven and are dedicated to living the simple life and finding ways to slowly get back there. I'm not saying things will ever be like they were before we had medicine, or science, or any of the other aspects of civilization. But that doesn't also mean we can't alter the direction of civilization to incorporate some of the sociological aspects of pre-industrial societies.

We know that counter-culture revolutions don't work just because Jerry Garcia turned out to be a junky? (sorry dead-heads, but he wasn't the messiah) I know what you're saying though. If counter-culture was a complete revolution why didn't it work, right?
Truth is, revolutions are never "complete." There has never been a real communist revolution in Marxist terms, and it was exactly this adherence to dogma that there had to be a "complete revolution" that lead to Stalin and Mao being such ruthless leaders. They were always killing anyone and everyone who got in the way of their vision of a revolution, which was never happening. The French Revolution lead directly to the reign of terror, and it took decades before any sembalnce of working democracy took hold in France. Even the American Revolution was followed by decades of doubt and peril, and it seemed like the founding fathers vision could collapse at any moment.
The spirit of the counter-culture revolution has become a vital part of american society. In fact we organize ourselves around the tension between counter culture and mainstream culture. Watch any car commercial for evidence of this. I think that it has the potential to keep shifting and changing us. I think the acid wave of the 60s was just a tiny movement in the never-ending shifting of conciusness.

i dont think a revolution is pointful - I think that for us in North America we have ALOT of resources (telecommunications mainlY) to work with, and despite "freedom" and "liberty" vanishing day by day, we are more free than ever before because of the understanding which is developing..
Walk the walk of a freeman - whats it look like? Is freedom being able to buy dinner, or being able to go without... What are you revolting against?
Im gonna evolve within the predominant culture, and do what i want.

I agree with you shroom fan, history does repeat in loops, I think right now american in general is very conservative because of bush and his administration, but sooner or later people will slowly start waking up and start questioning ideas again. but hey thats my opinion

I'm torn on this issue. Half of me agrees that people will wake up, other half of me thinks they won't. I really don't see an end to anything that is currently happening. American Idol and its ilk will be watched for the forseeable future. People will still think Bush an amazing person since he is the president and we should follow whatever he says, especially since we're in a time of war (I thought we declared the war in Iraq over a few years ago?)
I think the only thing that will shock people into having there eyes and minds opened is a catastrophy on a GLOBAL scale. Not a hurricane, not a tsunami where only third world contries and its people are affected, but even the rich people, the rich politicians and the people who run things behind the scenes. What would be the catastrophy? Nuclear war would be my guess.
This whole religious cartoon nonsense is simply outrageous. World War 3 really is going to start over some political cartoons. Imagine that. Not surprising though.

Yes, we can. It just seems to take so much energy, even groups of thousands couldn't pull it off. Hell, how to guide that energy, I have no clue?
