Re: Help...shroom drying disaster. ..safe to eat?
    #16534 -

I would say it's safe to eat. i am new to
this myself. the first few i harvested turned
blue right away i think it's cause they werent
drying fast enough, from what i have read
it's best to just lay um on a paper towel
and point a fan on them for a day or so.

Yam is right. If you are really worried about it though you could break open the stem. If its nasty the whole way through the shroom I wouldn't suggest eating it, but by your description it sounds ok.

I use a needle and thread and string them on the thread. I'll hang them up and put a fan on them for 24 hours. That will get it mostly dry. Then I put them in a container with some desicant to fully dry them. That's the best way I've found.

LOL..... to funny...
your mushroom is fine... you bruised it...cramming it in the vitamin jar.. thats why its blue....

PPL.. you can leave your mushrooms on a shelf with a slight air blowing over them, via small fan and they'll dry just fine. Its how you handle them when there fresh that will lower the potency...dont squeeze , or cram them into a jar....be gentle with them.. bruising, or turning blue is actually a negative reaction... be gentle with them....
