Dry them on a fan for 24 hours. Use dessicant chamber for final drying. Vacuum seal for long term storage. READ the grow/find section on preserving mushrooms and making a dessicant chamber. Sporeworks sells dessicant if you need it. Oh yeah, its fool proof, not full proof. Peace

another Canadian! Nice! I'm in Canada too! I have a small rubbermaid container 14 Gal (53L). Using regular screen for doors and a little 1" X 1" (2.54cm) wood I constructed 2 frames that fits into the container. One lower than the other. The lower level should be off the ground because water acumulates down there. The top level should be about 3-4 inches above the other level. I put a piece of paper towel on the lower level and cover it with a bit of calcium cloride (don't let this scare you) you can get it from walmart or home hardware. People use it to dry out damp basements. Just ask for something like that. It's a white powder. On the top level put your little buddies and put the lid on it. Less than 24 hrs you'll have some good dry shrooms with minimal loss of wierd powers. I have some pics if this isn't clear. i'll just have to dig em up. All in all I spent about $20 bucks canadian and I still have everything (2 years) works great. Let me know if you need pics

mj's directions are more intended for people needing to dry several pounds picked from the wild, quickly. for more modest crops of a few ounces, it's better to avoid heat in the drying process as much as possible. simply fan drying for a day, then finishing them by sealing in a container holding a dessicant, such as silica gel.

If you live in a warm, dry home, just lay them on the table for a day or two. Break open the bigger stems for quicker drying. There's really nothing more you need do. But if you are in a hurry, then I recommend using a combination of warm air and air movement such as that employed in the Hurricane Drying Tek. And don't let anybody tell you otherwise, subjecting your shrooms to warm air will NOT hurt the potency. I think it was Ryche who once mentioned that 140 degrees is the breakdown point but when the oven is turned to 140, the door is open and a fan is blowing then the actual temp the shrooms are being subjected to is more like 90 degrees, a typical temp in which this mushroom grows in the wild. This will not affect your shrooms other than drying them safely and quickly, as if subjected to the winds of a hurricane in a tropical climate.
