 Ever get VERY sick from eating your own shrooms?

I was terllin you guys about how I had only one 4" shroom growing and NOTHING else going on in any of my 6 pans in the terrariums. well it was my b-day so i decided to eat it. i did, i tripped a lil. (this was the night of 1/27) then last night (1/28) i got very sick about 6pm and up until just now (noon on 1/29) i was so sick i thought i was going to die. hot flashes, fever, tripping, SO CLOSE TO PUKING, achy, delerious, you name it. So bad i never want to do shrooms or grow then ever again. Has this ever happend to anyone here? The shroom i picked and ate looked healty and it was blue on the inside. Tasted horrible, but i know shrooms taste horrible, it tasted worse fresh then the dried shrooms i had.

Sounds strange and its never happened to me.
However, my friend experienced the same thing about a week ago. We both dosed about a gram of Kohs and had fairly pleasant trips. But she spends the next day puking her guts out, having hot flashes and running a fever. The next day, everythings back to normal.
She described it as having the flu, but different. (detailed, huh?). I remember soon after we ate the shrooms, she commented that her stomach was a little more shakey than usual.
What kind of shroomies were they and where did you get the spores from?

Ahhh... kind of.
My aardvark grew some fresh Kohs and some that had been dried. I ingested a gram of dry and muh friend took about the same fresh. Different states, same strain, though.
It was her first time dipping into some fresh, so maybe that had an effect.
Just a strange occurance, I suppose. She didn't let it get her down, you shouldn't either.

Every time I eat shrooms I get little red goose pimples that last for about two days on my face. Alergic reaction I suppose.
But this sounds like bacteria for sure. SOUNDS LIKE
Anyway, I would go to the doctor. Express intrest in an enzyme test.

my ex and I ate together and were having a great time...perma grin and all when she took a turn for the worse..she passed out and was shaking a little and making strange gurgling noises..I grabbed and kept shaking her and she finally woke back up. I was completely freaking out at this point and wanted to rush her to the ER which she refused claiming she was alright..15 mins later she is laying on my kitchen floor vomiting and pissing herself. She seemed coherent or at least I thought so I ate 6 grams dry to her 3. She has eaten numerous times before and has no past history or epilepsy or any known alergies. She's alright but wont touch mushrooms ever again

Those are "supposidly" the most potent cubensis right now. You coulda just tripped real hard... ;/
How many times have you tripped? If it was your first time, you might just have an allergic reaction.
Ive personally not known anyone whos had an allergic reaction to them, however I guess its quite common..

hey people, thanks for all your input. i've tripped before, the thing is, i ate them and tripped a tiny bit, like saw one thing move and knew it wasn't. i didnt get mad sick till the following night. what i'm wondering is........ is it bad to pick and eat them fresh, ive heard from a few people that its like eating straight poison and you should ALWAYS pick them 1st....

I think its just a fluke. My friend and I have tripped numerous times, one time he got similiar symtoms to what you were talking about (throwing up, shaking, incoherent). We tripped again about a month later and nothing. Just one of those things i guess

did your friend experience these symptoms 24 hrs AFTER he ate the mushroom.... i'm thinking my body did not have a good time digesting it and after it left my tummy and started to hit the intestines things went wrong. also i'm getting flash backs here and there 2 days later.... my main question is IS IT SAFE TO PICK AND EAT SHROOMS FRESH or DO YOU HAVE TO DRY THEM?

Fresh shrooms are typically more potent. Basically there are three active alkaloids in shrooms... lets call them P1, P2, and B to keep things simple. The first alkaloid, P1 is the good stuff. The second alkaloid, P2, is converted by the body into P1, resulting in more good stuff. The third, B, is undesirable and usually found in very small quantities. P2 does not store well, and tends to degrade into nothing special. Therefore, if your shrooms have are fresh, they might contain .5% P1, .5% P2. The same shrooms dried might only contain .48% P1 and .05% P2. By reducing the oxygen and heat during storage, you preserve the amount of P2. This turned into a long winded way to say it is safe to eat both, but the fresh ones can be more potent depending on the genetics and storage of the fruit.

That would explain why my friend lost her cookies. She's not a very experienced psychonaut. The extra potent fresh shroomies (kohs) that she ate probably were just to much for her novice tummy. Hmm...
(on a completely other note, rumor has it that shrooms may decrease in potency after the veil is broken.)

As the shrooms spend more of their energy and resources on spore production, which happens after the veil breaks, they spend less energy and resources on alkaloid (good stuff) production. The only reason to wait until veil is broken and the caps are open is if you want more weight or if you want spores. The only reason you would want more weight is if you are selling to others. My friend would much rather eat 1.5g of powerful small shrooms than 3g of big weaker shrooms. My friend has not validated this and is having me repeat what has been read from others. The same holds true for cannabis. If you pull the male plants so there is no seed production, the buds the female produces have more THC for the same reason.

Nope.....never have gotten sick from eating shrooms.
Lucky me.
But....I did have to take a dump one time during a trip.
And had a very bad experience....felt like my insides were coming out.
Ended up talking to God....asking him to bring me down...lolz
Also had another weird trip in the 80's.
We had a Tea party for like 30 people...lolz
This deaf mute showed up drunk....really drunk.
He got back in his car and started hitting all the parked cars on the street.
This bastard drove around the block and was hitting alot of cars.
We ended up taking away his car keys.
Really freaked me out....and i knew the cops were gonna be comin.
I got the hell out of there......and fast.
Talk about getting paranoid.

Food poisioning is the #1 cause of the "24 hour flu"
I am succeptable to food poisioning from liquids, some are from fruits, some solid sugars and so on... Most people are week in one area of digestion in the fact that the smallest bug in what you eat or drink can get you sick... It can come from not washing your food, hands or preperations area or improper storage and cooking. Well just about anything really.
On a trip a while back I got some bad Orange Juice that everyow else who drank it was fine but it put me in bed for three days and I really thought I was going to die.. I hurt, diareha, puking (every half hour), body aches that made moveing verry hard. This really spoiled my vacation as I spent the entire time in bed eating chineese vegetable soup and drinking gatorade. Just recently I got the 24 hour thing from gas station cappuccino machine.
Food Bourn Illness is everywhere, if a small flake of bacteria falls on the top of your mushroom it can grow their forever and you wont know till you eat it and end up shitting water for 24 hours...

yeah, sounds like you got a touch of food poisoning.
reminds me of that simpson's where homer had the 6 foot sandwich and he kept eating it for days, till it even had little shroomies growin on it? "sooooo cold, soooo cold"

i just recently grew my first batch (SA) and i ate a fresh one that was about 6" with a 1.5 inch cap. I got real real nautious and thought i was going to throw up every time i got up to move around.
My girlfriend ate 2 smaller ones that would be just under what i ate and she as well got sick.
As long as we were sitting still, watching "Natural Born Killers" (highly recommended  ), we were fine.
Was a very strange trip.

I found this thread searching about slugs eating my outdoor patch. I have gained a couple more doses out of burrying the casings, but they keep dissapearing in the morning. So tonight I went out there with a flash light and made a ring of salt around the patch. OMG the slugs were out in full force. HUUUUUUUUUGE motherfuckers.... moving FAST as shit all over it. I hit them with salt and they shed this bright orange shit.... I mean the were EVERYWHERE!!!! So I dunno if the salt is gonna fuck up the patch.... but if it doesn't the slugs will. I still have some I picked.... but now I'm paranoid to eatem, or gift them. Maybe I will make tea.... but I dont want no stomach worms or death. Good god.

Also, I ate my first fresh mushroom dose a while back. 25 - 30 grams wet.... I was FUCKED..... harder than ever. and I usually eat like 4 -5 dry.... I couldn't see and I was very burpy.... gassy, confused... agitated.... I like dry from now on.
