Predictability

Several shroomerites have "accused" me of being predictable as if that were a bad thing. Should I flip-flop on my views and pop out of the bushes willy-nilly like a jack-in-the box from day to day? Is not predictability a sign of stability and internal consistency as far as a viewpoint is concerned?

of course not, consistency is requisite for healthy thinking...

I suspect that people find you predictably obstinate, not merely consistent.

I disagree man. Consistency = dullness & boredom = not happy or healthy. We need to be spontaneous, be random, do whatever! Fuck that "stability" bullshit... Put some spice in your life! Mixing things up a little, I think, is the real way to keep your mind healthy and active.

I'm not talking about that, I too agree with the whole 'live right now' credo, I'm talking about thinking philosophically; the positions you take in arguments. It's good (or interesting...) to make your world view as connected and co-existing as possible. there can be no connection nor co-existing if there isn't consistency between your various opinions and beliefs.

I disagree with this because I agree with the aforementioned 'live right now' credo. I have reason to suspect that enlightenment feels very much like a "willy nilly...jack in the box".

Swami, I don't think you're predictable in a bad way.
Predictability can mean both trustworthiness and redundancy. Predictable in a negative sense would be if you could change all your posts to "You know what I think about that", and everyone would still know what your exact argument was.

He blatently said that "IF" you could simply respond to a message with:
