No! We could never do #2. That would be considered breaking a law! By your standards that means we would be justified spending ridiculous amounts of time in prison for consciously breaking the rules!

I'd rather just play it safe, lube up my asshole, and wait patiently for the government to tell me what to do next... because we all sure as shit no congress isn't going to be paying attention anytime soon.

A black market is fueled by the illegality of the products, I don't see black market beer or tobacco products competing with the legal products.

Will organized crime disappear if drugs are legal? No, but it would create a huge problem for them for a long time.

Why are you stooping to the level of making bullshit statements?  You know better than that.

Law Enforcement and Lawmakers = rapist, not drug dealer = rapist.

If people were educated in the effects and dangers and use of these drugs there would be many more responsible users. The rates of addiction would dramatically decrease if people were allowed to make informed decisions.

But they dont want that, they want to be able to break into your home place a gun to the head of your child and take all your assets in the name of false justice.

moonshine. liquor is legal. it's illegal to distill in the US without license
and it's far more profitable than beer when there's many home browers,
tobacco is legal to grow but with all the taxes it's also profitable, get
caught selling untaxed tobacco and you'll serve prison time, same with beer,
same with hard liquor or wine

Exactly.

#1 isn't even that plausible either.  Countless petitions have been filed to end the WoD, and the government has never listened to them, and never will.

why wasnt marijuana legalized in california?
here's a hint, it wasnt because the medical marijuana industry voted against

Thats just wrong, the following statistics are from this years UN drugs report,

Quote:
The annual snapshot of drug use says that around 230 million people, one in every 20, took illicit drugs at least once in 2010. There are about 27 million problem drug users

Who ever said to call the cops on him and let him feel what its like to be fucked by the long dick of the law, I have to say it would be hilarious to see him snared, humiliated, house ripped apart and imprisoned but I don't think it would be right to report him. It would have to happen naturally

I do vote...

I will admit there is definitely legal progress being made in many states toward marijuana, but it's been decades in the making.

To say mushrooms or LSD are going to become legal in this lifetime just by having people passively go out and vote sounds a bit idealistic to me...

Even when the people have voted in favor of legalizing marijuana, the federal government still comes in and ransacks the dispensaries.

The blackmarket already exists, thats what the trade of those drugs was founded on. If the US were to legalize them they would just push their product at lower prices on the street and try to out compete the pharmaceutical companies. Isn't that just logical?

That would happen for a while.  The difference in their profit margin would be so great, though, that they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves.  If people have easy access to a product at a reasonable mark-up, and vendors have easy access to legitimate suppliers who offer fair bulk prices, they are not going to be rushing to make deals with violent criminal syndicates across the U.S. border.  Are any large-scale moonshiners from the prohibition era still competing with Budweiser?

Just throwing this out there...one of the main moonshiners of Prohibition gain quite a bit of power...you may know his sons John and Bobby? They were kind of important.

See the thing about the argument you're making is that its entirely invalid. Theres no reason a drug user shouldn't be informed of precisely what they're using. It takes 20 minutes on the internet to find everything you could ever need to know about just about any drug imaginable.  Given that there are computers anyone can use in just about any public library the only reason any drug user has for irresponsible and un-informed use is pure lazyness and stupidity.

For a state. States aren't independent entities. They're 2% of the whole. Just 1 or even a handful of states mean nothing to the overall result. Until you can get the majority of the Union to vote to legalize/decriminalize marijuana the federal government is going to continue putting pressure on marijuana farmers, dispensaries, and users. They're legally obligated to do so. Pris is correct on this front. Its not the fault of the federal government for doing exactly what the law (which the governments duty since the founding of the United States is to uphold) says they have to do. Don't like it? Get together with all your friends and coworkers and their friends and coworkers and their friends and coworkers and so on and so forth and VOTE. Every man and woman in the entire country over the age of 18 has precisely 1 vote per election cycle. 1 vote to say 'I don't like this law. I want it to be changed'. Thing is though...the citizens that whine and bitch and moan the most about high taxes, the war going on too long, marijuana being illegal, economic policy, etc, etc....DON'T. VOTE. They justify it to themselves as 'Oh one vote will never make a difference'. It may not. However theres hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people just like you who sit watching their tvs on election day as the news reports on the votes being counted and the results coming in. Then when the results come in and it turns out they got the opposite of what they wanted they whine and complain some more because they were too lazy or apathetic to get off their asses and go down to the voting station and spend 20 minutes hitting a few buttons. If you had all gotten off your asses and went and voted you may have gotten what you wanted...but you didn't because 'my vote doesn't matter'.

Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

People who hurt people, that aren't hurting people will be judged in the future according to their deeds.

You can ramble on about lawbreakers and rapists all you want Prisoner 1.  Won't change the fact that you're supporting people who kill, murder, kidnap and imprison in order to generate credits that they can satiate their desires with.

There will be punishments for that.  Just as those individuals inflict suffering and anguish, so too will there be reciprocal suffering and anguish.

It's the way of life and karma.  I simply focus my intentions on everything being resolved as soon as possible so that as few as necessary suffer.

You can call a man who casts aside his bonds and walks freely of his own accord a "lawbreaker".  You may say that of a man who makes cat calls at a young lady with different skin pigmentation than he.  You can call the man "lawbreaker" who refuses to go to a foreign land he is unfamiliar with for the purpose of killing people he has no interest in killing.

That doesn't change the fact that calling that person a "lawbreaker" and hurting them because they won't bend to your will puts YOU in the camp of aggression and responsibility.

Codified law has inculcated everyone.  For some reason people are confused about the fact that people write things down on paper that they say you need to abide by verbatim despite the fact that it's not true.

It's as if people see "You must do this this and this" and they instantly believe it, even if it orders you to kill and hurt other people.
