Ok, so what kind of discussion are you trying to get out of a thread about living near a DEA agent?

I was trying to illustrate that not all DEA agents are the demons people make them out to be. Some of them only care about the violent crimes associated with drug trafficking and not what the individual user does on their own time.

The DEA is responsible for raiding houses, killing people and animals, and putting away good people for decades.

that's because high level drug traffickers dont live in clouds with angels guarding the gates

Hold on, why are you guys acting so nonchalant about this, and treating the guy like he's cool?

Just because he sounds like a stereotypical badass type doesn't excuse him for his moral hypocrisies.

This guy sent people to jail for drugs, and he uses drugs himself.  How can you excuse that?

Tell that to William Pickard or anyone else who has had their life ruined by the DEA. If you believe the DEA is only responsible for taking down "the big bad violent criminals" then you're ignorant as hell.

So is anti-freeze.

Not going any further.

He is still part of the problem.  If the US drug policy wasn't used to destabilize and muck around in the affairs of the countries producing these drugs we wouldn't need the DEA to be down there fighting the cartels, they are there and operating as a result of our ignorant policy's regarding these drugs.

I agree with the "fuck this guy" sentiment.

Regardless of who he was busting or where he was doing his work he is still on the other side.

Let's not forget this is a WAR and he is/was the enemy.

Also, why the fuck is the U.S. sending money to other countries to fight drug cartels when we have people here at home struggling to survive?

Fuck this war on drugs and ANYONE who is or ever was involved in prosecuting people.

Showing that not every DEA agent is out to get the individual drug user who is just having fun, that some of them are out there to take down violent criminals. Showing that maybe retired DEA agents realize that they've been enforcing bullshit laws that they don't agree with.

Since you asshats already opened the can of worms, do you really think that if the US were to legalize drugs like coke, meth, heroin, pot, etc. that these cartels who murder people en masse wouldn't still exist? I think you're sorely mistaken. Money is money, they will make it anyway they can, regardless of if the US legalizes shit. They will still flood the US markets with their goods and the violence will still continue. Capitalism, bitches. They know all about it.

That's stupid and makes no sense or logic.

For one, calling us asshats because we don't join you in kissing ass to a former authority figure just makes you look immature.

There is very good reason to be opposed to this guy smoking pot, whether or not he was taking down individual drug users or drug suppliers.  Because individual drug users could barely exist without the drug suppliers to supply them their drugs.

And cartels have not been around forever.  You're argument is "could you imagine a world without organized crime?".  Even if there black markets outside of drugs that people can profit from, I say let's minimize those markets as much as possible.

If drugs were legalized in the U.S that would cut off a huge source of income for the drug cartels, create more jobs here at home, and make more space in the jails.

Also, why would there be a need for violence if the business was legitimate?

The cartels could just make their product and ship it without having to use brute force.

I don't think anyone here assumes all DEA agents are complete cock bags, but none-the-less they are still on the other side of this war.

Asshats?

If the US were to regulate these drugs we would be able to legitamize the cartels or at least develop competing organization that would eventually put them out of business through campaigns of education based on effects, proper use and distibution regulations.

the DEA damned sure didnt force anyone into a life of manufacturing drugs so
other than the fact that all these folks are butthertz and unwilling to admit
that 'their own' criminal activity is why these folks like Pickard are in
prison because they knowingly broke the law and got busted for it.

it's all about personal responsibility. too bad hippies know fuckall about it
