Hello all :thumbup:

I have been away for a week and returned to some sexy little pins and a few larger shrooms emerging from the rye cake :mushroom2::cool: which im very happy about.

Just thought i would drop a few pictures so people can see how they are coming along.

Alot of the growing shrooms where touching the side of the humidity bag and it was very very delicate to open and mist/air etc, so i have moved the cake into a small Fruiting chamber made out of a tupperware box with wet perlite in the bottom for humidity.

The cake shouldn't be touching the perlite, it will grab all the water content from the cake.

Also, I'd really advise popping holes in that tub,ala a shotgun fruiting chamber.

There is some perlite stuck to the bottom of the cake, when i flipped it over to take that shot.

And yeah the cake is just sat on the perlite at the moment, is this not right? should i find some thing to prop it up, like a jam jar lid?

ok, holes in the tub, at the moment im just opening and fanning 3 times a day, but if hole will help then il do that

Yeah i was thinking this, iv been away for the weekend so they havnt been fanned or misted or even opened for a few days. and SGFC is the plan, just need to grab some things so make one.

Thanks mate the cake is now sat on foil rather than touching the perlite, and a few holes have been made in the FC. Once iv been down the hardware store to pick up a bigger rubbermaid tub and suitable drill bit il probably make an automated SGFC...

Thanks mate, like i said this is really just a test run to learn the basics and get a bit of a better understanding of these creatures.  :regularshroom:  :1up:  :pipesmoke:

I have noticed a bit of suspect looking green on the stems of 2 shrooms, it looks more green than typical blue brusing so im worried it could be a contam.

Can any one have a look and give me some feed back?

That green on your stems is just bruising. Don't worry about it, trust me.

A fair amount of growth in the last day or two, 3 or 4 shrooms look like they are nearly ready to pick so i will see how they are looking tomorrow. And there is a nice amount of pins still on the go, so it doesn't look like its going to be to terrible flush for a first attempt.

Does it really matter if they are touching the sides of the FC?

I was planning on letting this cake finish in here before starting a new set of spores and making a new larger FC for em. But i could go grab a bigger tub today and move this cake if its going to make any difference.

I Havested a few shrooms this morning that looked ready, they veils where just breaking on the ones iv picked and iv just left the smaller ones to do their thing.

The Few picked ones are now drying out on a piece of paper with a small computer fan blowing fresh air over them.
