I'm pretty sure your body has awesome buffering systems as even slight deviations from the normal pH result in death.

What about deviations slight enough not to cause death?

Surely, they exist.

I haven't seen any real data in support of the alkaline/acid health relationship.

Certainly none to your liking...

I agree with you, I just think it's good to keep an open mind about these things

I personally would prefer not to have to modify my diet to be more "alkaline" when I find I enjoy it and it supports my health.

To be honest, I based what I said earlier on the book The pH Miracle, which I ordered and read after a Shroomerite recommended it to me a few years ago.  Apparently there are plenty of people who have called into question the validity of the argument and the credentials of the author.  I've also read quite a bit about body alkalinity online, but a lot of these web health sites tend to promote dietary fads that don't have a lot of research behind them.

Shows me I need to be more careful about statements I make on subjects about which I'm a relative n00b.

Also, I think that if you are really interested in great health, what is much more beneficial than researching different diets is developing self-awareness and deep body awareness through meditation, yoga, exercise, or simply taking the time every day to focus intensely on the entire field of your body and how it is feeling.  If you do that, your dietary choices will eventually come into harmony with your body's cycles and energy needs.

to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Thats why I didn't say its bs right away. Who knows there might be something about alkaline/acidic but so far nothing exists to support it apart from a bunch of unsubstantiated online statements.

I am not very concerned about my health  My lifestyle is pretty unhealthy and I am very well aware of the damage different foods do to my body (at the molecular level since thats what I do for a living). I don't exercise at all, am overly negative and stuff myself with cancer causing arthery clogging shit. Fuck it.

To each his own.  That's why I prefaced my advice about health with "if you are really interested in great health..."  You may regret not living a healthier lifestyle if you start to feel the effects of it.  Why not do some things to make yourself marginally healthier?  I have at various points been miserably unhealthy in my dietary and lifestyle choices in general.  Last year it got to an extreme.  The constant fatigue, depression, irregular shitting, bad posture, lack of self-confidence, etc. eventually pushed me to make some changes.

Well I quit smoking and drinking so thats something. I don't do drugs very often either. I guess I can start skateboarding again, just to get my stamina back (I do a couple of heelflips and my heart starts racing like crazy and I gotta sit down).

Its just that my work is very demanding so I don't have much time to think about healthy food. I barely cook but I do eat salad and fruit once in a while. Most often something quick and greasy from the kebab shop or pizza place. I am going to eat more salad

Wow, that's a pretty wide brush stroke right there. All people who use drugs regularly are not reliable.

So, you somehow know all drugs users or what?

I'm just sharing my experience and observations. Over the years I noticed that people who use drugs are more likely to fuck you over.

Potheads forgetting to show up for meetings, peeps not being able to pay rent in joint tenancy fuck over everybody in the house. Extreme mood fluctuations, untidy, sketchy and likely to rip you off. I'm sorry but thats just the way it is. And they think they're superior to others since they've had some profound drug experience so now they're somehow special.

No mate, just the majority of the people I've dealt with in my life. Of course there are plenty of good people but druggies are almost always in some sort of trouble. Just my observation.

Well, I said "Shroomerite," not drug user.  It was a friend of mine who in my experience is reliable.  I myself am a Shroomerite, but I practically never take any substance that is considered a "drug" by the arbitrary standards of Western substance control policies.

Did you know that having a shitty diet can affect your cognitive abilities even more negatively than habitual drug use? A thought.

I have noticed that shitty food affects my performance in a negative way (feeling tired and lacking motivation) but smoking a few joints a day is worse I think.

Depends on tolerance and just how shitty the diet is, really.

Thats true. Actually I tend to eat the most junk food when I smoke weed  one of the reasons I had to cut down a bit. Srsly 3 packs of the greasiest chips, 2 bags of cookies, a double cheeseburger etc etc. while overly stoned is going to kill me.
