campfire zone

I am able to forget every worry, every distracting thought, the second I enter the campfire zone.
What is it about this experience that is so fulfilling? It's like true relaxation and reflection for your mind and body.
Sitting under a night sky, staring into the flames.
Intoxicated or not, it doesn't matter.
The people around me, are nolonger overtones in my attention. They are merely shadows in the background. Lifeforms equal to me.
Anxiety evaporates with the heat.


We are all in our own worlds, yet there's some true connection here. As if we're actually looking at each other through our windows instead of using the telephones or just screaming at each other through the walls.
We acknowledge the life around us. We understand our rhythm. This is the meditative part of the song...

hand drums...
dijderidoos...
acoustics...
voices. communication.

the campfire zone is home. would it be so special if not so rare?

this festering society i return to is the journey away from home. and everything's fucked up.

Fire purifies the spirit. It is a cleansing element, a meditative flicker of flames which soothes the soul.

I think it's droning stimuli that gives us that feeling.
I get it from campfires, riding motorcycles, the whirring of a fan or air conditioning unit, certain tastes (cheesecake and good port wine {just a taste people! :wink:} can put me in a slight trance), etc.  It soothes me.  Maybe it's because it gives us a constant, you know, it's comforting.  Maybe I'm just weird.

do you think maybe a fire being the source of comfort for ancestors many years ago, maybe it's in our genes to be comforted by such an environment?

also, maybe it's the fact that we're witnessing this closeup display of energy. Maybe it tunes our bodies in somehow.
