Yep, I was fooled by it also. Did you get it at HomeDepot? Its says "Organic Mushroom Compost" on the front of the bag. Its made by Gardener's Choice, correct? Read closer and it says used once to produce one crop of mushrooms, and is now ready for use with garden plants. Basically this stuff is spent substrate. Its all ready been used to grow mushrooms once, whats left behind is what mushrooms don't use. I tried to spawn a few cakes into a few trays of this shit. Some of the weirdest looking contaminants I ever saw grew out of those trays, but no mycelium. None. It was like the cake went dormant when it was mixed in with the " Organic mushroom compost". This stuff is no good for our needs. Try if you must, but it won't grow anything.

Listen to lizard king, that shit is worthless. Most of it comes from philips mushroom farm in Penn. Used once for a crop of button mushrooms then given away for allmost nothing.

Thanks for the input, this stuff is called dixie mix and it says good for one growing also, wondered why that was?
