Drug Tourism

Always been fascinating to me.  My friend is trying to get me to go to Vieng Vang in Laos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vang_Vieng ; (if you aren't familiar)

Although, it does have a certain appeal, I really don't wanna go to a tourist spot surrounded by the worst of the Anglosphere tourists.  Vang Vieng being in the news as of late due to British and Australian 20 somethings who end up getting themselves killed.  Death by misadventure so to speak.

It would be a cheap vacation.  What are some drug tourist spots you'd like to visit?  I think we have all heard of Amsterdam and wanted to visit.  Or have a friend in a medical state and wanted to try multiple strains whilst staying the weekend on his or her couch before heading back to your home state. 

I'd really like to do a Strain Hunters in Durban, South Africa or search out a rare land race. (link to video)).  Or a Full Moon Festival.  I guess when I go to a music festival here in a way it is considered "drug tourism".

I worked at a printing factory with a dude from laos.  He was this goofy asian dood pretty big into drugs...he'd always be happy when he would score from the illegal mexican help at the factory and be all jumpin' around singing and shit.

Anyways, he took a two week vacation to see family in laos, and before he went, he was pretty excited about all of the drugs he was going to be doing the whole time he was over there.  I think he even mentioned they had opium dens.

I heard you can get opium pretty easy there as well.  As well as pot and magic mushrooms in Vieng Vang.  You have to watch out for people in bed with the police, five minutes after you buy you get busted and then they extort a price to stay out of jail.  It sounds like a bad version of Spring Break after reading about it with college aged tourists, free shots and tubing. 

My opinion is we go to Bangkok, and do a Hangover 2 without all the negativity.  He's in Japan right now so he can just jet over while I have a long flight to wherever.


They have "Happy Menus" as well with weed and mushroom infused food.  Wouldn't mind ditching the party crowd and taking a guided tour of the jungle while on a few grams.

I read that article.  One more thing that tipped the notch to "pick somewhere else".  Like Katamandu in the 1970s.  When too many people find out about it, the cat is out of the bag and it loses its appeal. 

It can't be all bad though.  Got to have a sense of adventure. I hope there are more bogans than limeys though.

i always like hearing about foreigners talk about how prevelant drugs are in their home country.  I went to college with a guy from morroco, and he said that it's like the culture for people to constantly smoke weed/hash and that it's done out in the open/while walking down streets etc.

idk the Czech republic has loads of beer weed and mushrooms are legal.. idk if thats what your looking for..:awesome:

I mentioned Strain Hunters. If you haven't heard of it man watch (link to full video) that.  They go to fields in Morocco and watch them process the hash for export while looking for the land race strain.  Interesting stuff.

I'd go for the beer.  A monastery there was voted number one beer in the world a few years back.  Who says religion spoils everything?  Might be a forbidden fruit type thing as they only brew up very little for the public.  I do like Pilsner style brews though.

I'm actually considering vacationing there this spring/summer.  Probably at an all-inclusive resort.  The weed would not be the only reason for going but certainly a nice bonus. 

I'd love to hear experiences/thoughts from anyone who has been to Jamaica.
