I grew up on Miami beach and in Key West. I was in the ocean almost every day of my first 15 years alive. I'm 20% crustacean. :yesnod:

My whole life I have been fascinated by huge waves. When I was at Daytona Beach late October about 12 years ago my dad and I were body-surfing some 2-3 foot chop. I kept looking out to sea and was saying "Here comes a really BIG one!" I would pretend that a monster was rolling in and get sort of scared.

We left around 7PM and were camping a few miles away. At 2:30 AM an 80 foot rogue wave (not a tsunami) came in and broke right where we were hours earlier. Local sources said if it had been daytime and in the summer, many thousands of people would have drowned. Fortunately, there were no known victims.
