Foil lid on rye jars with tyvek...will this work?

It's late, I can't find any drill bits that fit into the drill. I am wondering if I were to use foil in place of the mason jar lids and put holes into to the foil for inoculation and gas exchange, and then place tyvek over the foil and place rings will this work? Right now my rye berries are sitting in the strainer, drying. I need to load the jars tonight.

I'm not positive, but it might not survive the pressure cooker. You could use a nail, or something similar to puncture the lid. I didn't see a specification of what tek your using, but I never use a bit for my jars. I puncture the middle with a nail, then use a pen to widen the hole. If not, it might be in your best interest to wait until you have the necessary tools.

I do the same.

You can use foil and tyvek held down by the bands. It will work well. I don't know about shaking with tyvec and foil - I guess you could just be gentile. People use foil instead of lids for PF jars.
