You were doing the same. I'm not avoiding the point, but it's difficult to debate an issue if the other party keeps confusing essential concepts such as religion and culture.

Yes, you're entitled to an inaccurate and unfounded set of views and opinions, just like anyone else.

Quote:
Basically, Im not allowed to judge culture at all huh?  Not with respect to my own values and not with respect valueless metrics.

Yes, you are, and I'm allowed to point out that you're wrong.

Quote:
No cultures are equal on anything.

Does that make one inherently better than the other? If you really think so, then we simply disagree on this; I don't believe it's possible to compare the intrinsic value of cultures. I like some things in all cultures or religions. I also think they are all flawed. More importantly, I think that dogma is dangerous, whatever culture or religion is stems from.

Indeed. Ill-informed ones, at that.

You are wrong and living in a fantasy land.  No cultures are equal on anything.  It doesn't matter what aspect you consider or what you personally consider to be good or bad.

agreed.

and also it's better to rationalize, because then you're being rational.

basically, what diecommie is saying is "he's seen what he's seen and that makes him right".

which is basically pragmatism: for dummies!

Apparently an AK47 was used. REcently theres some serious hardware going around in the european underground.

In Holland insane stuff happes too, spree killers, people shooting a rocket at a courthouse, frequent use of high explosives in thefts..

Things are going to shit here.

the hardware stuff has been around a long time, but they start to get more available for 'normal' criminals. Actually Belgium is not so estranged from this kind of violence. In the 80's a lot of this kind of shit went down here, it was called 'the iron years'. There are rumours of secret services paying for violent groups to spread fear on the continent, because kapitalism started to lose ground. I dont know the exact stories though. Should ask the Conspiracy forum on it.
