eternity in an instant
    #15508798 -

here is something I thought about, I am sorry if it becomes a rambling

this whole thing exists in a way eternally
but from an ideal perspective (imaginary),
we could see that the whole thing,
from a standpoint above that eternity
can only exist in a limited way, since the dimension or perspective above is eternal to that limited thing

so what is eternal is instantaneous
they are the same
from god's perspective

I thinks it is amazingly wonderful that you know what God's perspective is. :cuckoo:

I wasn't making fun of you.  I get what you are saying it makes sense if you have the ability to think about time outside of the human perspective.  I was just curious because you posted so early in the morning and it sounded like you were frying your balls off.

Its just hard to carry on an intelligent conversation about a topic like that because the truth is there is no way to see outside the human perspective and the discussion falls off the deep end.

Why are negative and positive infinity exchangeable in any mathematical equation?

Why does the Bible say "I am the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end?"

Why does Terence McKenna's Time Equation (forget the correct name of it) approach zero (AKA, reaches its LIMIT if you know calculus) on exactly 12/21/2012, the same date that the mayans say is the dawning of a new astrological age?

Why is this music so awesome?

Because of data back-fitting. Nothing more; nothing less.

Yeah sure you can strike that one down but how about my other 3 reasonings.

it's not about reason
it is a kind of seeing that sees what is unthinkable
oddly this does happen
and it is worth seeking out.

(i could do without mckenna or 2012)

whats the difference between a minute and a billion years, if you're not counting?

the thing is that the multidimensional thing, the totality as it is xists, and for it to do so it must extend in a direction (ultimatet time (whatever)) and any extension into that direction can be cut into a million pieces or slices (any number) and therefore (remember, one slice, or frame of the infinite multitude is one totality as it is from beginning to end in all other directions (space, our time, etc, whatever there is)
well, I lost my train of thought there, but you see?
since it exists, it is  .. eternal, instant, same thing
since instant is eternal, eternal is instant, a is b, b is a
b

an experience can be 100% true but not be explicable.
In this way It may not require any explanation or excuses,
I think you are moving into that territory,
you get to see things through direct experiencing,
but after the experience the compulsion to explain is very strong.

We should be able to have experiences and feel the influences of them without needing to create any dogma or explanations.

it is this way already explicitly with sex.

The cover of my journal bears a quote from Wu-Men: "One instant is eternity; eternity is the now."
I don't know the proper meaning, but I can see it in three similar ways:
1) If we knew exactly what was happening everywhere in the universe in one instant, we could know everything.  If we knew what everyone in the world was doing, thinking, and feeling in one instant, maybe we could understand each other.  Each instant has the information of an eternity.
2) Everything can happen in an instant.  Each instant, therefore, is of immense value.  Eternity can happen or can be changed in an instant.
3) Our perception is of taking minute slices of eternity and making sense of it.  Take away the perception of time, and each moment exists apart from each other, and is therefore dimensionless with respect to time and therefore, eternal.  It's much more productive to our physical selves that we're able to perceive time in a smooth fashion and recognize patterns so that time is interconnected.

There are truths to each of these, I believe.

In a more literal sense, eternity is just an instant infinitely expanded parallel to the direction of time. Or, an eternity is an eternity of eternities, if we were to equate instants to eternities.  I don't find that definition as useful.

again
it is not about if and then postulations.
all of existence is happening now whether you are aware of it or not.
it is unconditional that way. not dependent on you or on logic.
being in the now is a kind of connection to that entirety.
- in the time dimension, eternity is the entirety of time.

The extent of both entire-ties are well beyond conception and are both unconditional concepts, i.e. you cannot make a logical sentence that uses these terms in an if clause - since the overall concept of these terms are as dimensional infinities.

you can use these terms effectively to illustrate how you are addressing the concepts in your experience, and that is what Wu-Men does when he says "One instant is eternity; eternity is the now."

he is describing an experience, not a logical construct - it is a open attitude with a layered state of mind (such as during or after meditation)

Perhaps if he said Sub Specie Aeternitatus, it would've made more sense to you.   Perhaps not.
