One man's eternity is another man's instant
    #5731451 - 06/09/06 05:20 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

For a moment here I'm going to take the Big Bang theory, or at least the idea of it as an explosion, quite literally!

Think of a firecracker, one of those round red cherry bombs. It is almost perfectly symmetrical - you can turn it in any direction and it looks more or less exactly the same. Even if you were to cut it open, you would find that the insides are mostly symmetrical - consisting of a chemical mix that looks quite even.

Now imagine you are just one particle, an electron, flying around one atom in one molecule in the gunpowder mix. Consider this point, in my analogy, as "before" the Big Bang.

The firecracker explodes. The Big Bang occurs, literally.

Now, what was once a small symmetrical package has lost nearly all of its symmetry. Pieces are flying out in every direction. Chemicals are being broken apart and re-assembled into a number of new chemicals. Energy is released.

The explosion ends. The energy once contained in perfect symmetry has now dispersed and become unusable. The Universe has finished its life.

Once again, imagine you are that single electron. What would it be like to experience the explosion from the inside?

Imagine, from the electron's point of view, that this explosion took a billion "years" to finish. To this solitary electron, the explosion is all there is - what came "before" is too strange to imagine, and what comes "after" is just as strange.

From an outside observer's viewpoint, the explosion only lasts a fraction of a second.

That, in a nutshell, is what I think our tiny little existence must "look" like to an outside observer. I think our Universe is an abberation - a momentary event in a much larger Megaverse. Everything that now exists in our universe existed in a state of perfect symmetry "before" the Big Bang...and everything in our universe will return to a state of perfect symmetry when this explosion has run its course.

We haven't existed for an instant, and won't exist for an instant more

the big bang is their way of saying something as massive as the universe was once something as small as an atom.

i.e. there are unvierses (many) inside our own body and anything else.

it's just an issue of relatvity. Keep zooming out away from the planet earth and eventually when you go out far enough you start zooming in to the planet earth, and vice versa... but perhaps into a "paralell" dimension.

it doesn't make any sense but it does, so i say it.

We make up everything as we go. Problem is, some know more secrets and are better at "making stuff up."

If you are drunk after just waking up, perhaps you should consider putting down the alcohol. Considering the high amount of taxes that Norway imposes on alcohol, you'd probably save a lot of money.

From my experience in Norway, everyone had moonshine to drink instead of expensive booze!

Well, every house I went to seemed to have a few gallons of the stuff laying around, anyway :smirk:

Pretty cool, like an explosive outer-normal-inverted event (the relative inside topology gets twisted to the outside), and somewhat fractal in nature....

And, sometimes eterni-tea is almost as good as instant....!?  :muppet:

Why on earth?
If you get drunk when you get drunk, is that not kind of the purpose of it? ..

Money are (is?) there for the spending.:thumbup:

Besides, it is the first time in ages that I could afford some "fun" ..

"..one could go insane, if one could not "reside" from the real world, once in a while!" ..
-Freely from a song..

And BTW, aren't that just a bit of topic?

I think shit like this belongs in PM's..

(I guess..) You would be surprised how few there are of you people thinking drinking once in a while, dates back to age old financial problem..

But, thank you for "concerning" ...

:wink::thumbup:

It wasn't intended for you to take it too seriously.

That is to say, it was a joke, stemming from the fact that you said that you were drunk, and that you had just woke up - I was playing off the fact that usually one isn't drinking as soon as one wakes up. Get it?

And, yes, in that sentence, it is "is", not "are".

It is not for "me getting confirmation" ..

It is the way the sentence is supposed to be, to convey its many meanings..

But, thank you for fed-back, anyways!

sleepy: This just in; thats the letters we all mold into something just as (even more) meaningful as your crap.

Now go chew your own asshair.

Anyway, if you zoom in or out long enough, you'll find eternity. Beware, you will be stuck there forever. Haaaaaha! (nelson-laugh)

Anyway, a good theory on the exploding universe-salsa, we *are* booming, we *are* on a seemingly constant mid-explosion trip.

We are crazy.

The only thing I can add is that you're the one blowing up, and that the big bang is perpetually taking place inside your head.

Or was it mine?

I've lost track, which means I must be on my way somewhere.
