Behind the scenes production, setting up and maintaining a website, the legal work of filing a business and incorporating it properly (You want an LLC for a production company), finding new talent and keeping your current talent happy/on board.  If you're making physical media you need to find a company to print and distribute your DVDs and Blu-Rays.  And then on top of it all you lose most of your business to piracy and porn tubes.  You gotta provide STD testing for your talent too, on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.  Oh yeah, and not that I ever dealt with it myself, but there is some mafia and other organized crime operating a lot of big name porn companies.  They will strong-arm you if you get too big, taking your women, etc. Not unlike the pimp game which I'm not getting into.  And I didn't even touch the marketing aspect of it all.

And then you have the 20 or so minute scenes with the models that take ALL DAY LONG, sometimes longer.  Catering to the talent and production team so they have food.  Dude there's so much that goes into this shit.  There's very little fun in it and seeing the naked women takes a back seat to the production while you're shooting.

The porn business is not worth it unless you're already big time in it or you have a really good shtick.

im sierously down with doing lighting, filming and editing for this. no joke, just give me a shooting schedule and room and board for the shoot, and a budget of about 3 to 5k. i can make it work.

we could just film the scenes/dvd and sell to a distributer, all of the extra expense for dvd/advertising ect.
a covered by the distributer, or do an on demand-printing per order or 100 orders with a dvd/blueray manufacturer.
the hard part is getting the right producers and connections to a distributor.
i just typed a huge wall of text about what i noticed about the costs of filmmaking from my previous job on a kinda wellknow cable network, but it would be boring.
TL:DR. film as cheap as possible by trimming the fat on the production and post, while still keeping quality, sell to a distributor.
im bored so i will actually go hack out a rough and dirty breakdown of what it would cost if we were going to do it.
