Vacuum HEPA filter?

So most vacuum cleaners have a HEPA filter in them. I'm assuming it runs air throught that filter, so... would just running the vacuum in the air serve a similar purpose?

Many have tried to make HEPA flowhoods and similar devices with vacuum cleaner HEPA filters.
I dont know of anyone ever succeded.

I think you need a HEPA with 99.995% and particle size 0.3 microns.
If you find a HEPA filter with theese specs it should work, but i think vacuumcleaner hepa isn't that good.
