does it really make a big difference whether you use a pressure cooker or a steaming pot to sterilize the jars? is it still possible to sterilize using a steaming pot without high chances of contamination?

I would invest in a PC. Example: 12 jars 3 contaminated via steaming. 90 jars w/ PC 2 contamed.

if ur just doing brf/verm then a pot wil due fine , but a PC is a safer bet, and necessary if u ever wanna try grains , all in all its a good investment

Depends on the substrate you are using. You can boil brf/vermiculite jars and get a good success rate, but if you use grain, the success rate will drop dramatically. Best bet is to buy a PC and you will be prepared for using grains in the future.

this "might" sound stupid but I had better luck with a pot ,kinda, I say kinda because when I used the pot I had less problems , but that might not mean much since it was my third try at growing so I learned some things the hard way

get a PC.. small price to pay for increased productivity.
I would suggest getting a gasketless PC.. Nothing sucks more then mixing up a batch of grain, getting everything set up and mixed putting everything into the PC and then the damn seal leaks. If you find you like growing mushrooms enough already to consider a PC spend the extra $60 on an All American as each new seal you replace every year or so costs $10 and you will find that you would have saved money (and headaches) over time with a gasketless model.

Hands down, get a PC. If you can afford an AA (All American), get one. It will pay for itself in short order. 6T
