Albino?? First time grow using pf-tek.

Started the grow using pf-tek method, using Golden teacher spores. Now on the last stages of growing. Weird thing is a few days after taking out of jars I see Brown Cap mushrooms but also there is pure white(full mushroom as you will see in pics) mingled in with the golden teachers.  Are they albino or something else?? Also from what you can see when should I harvest??

If you print the spores off of the white ones and the spores are not purple/dark, then you've got something fancy.

Actually not everyone was a noob.  Being a noob is a very new phenomenon.  Many people, the great majority in fact, were simply "beginners", "novices" or "new to mushroom growing".  Being a "noob" is reserved, and in fact created specifically for and by, the newer, much more lame generations coming about.

Albino A+ spores are dark. Leucism applies to skin, which mushrooms don't have. So does Albinism, but I'm not sure if there's a specific term for when it happens that mushrooms are white. We call 'em albinos just because.

Looks like you've got a few to me. Your mushrooms look ready for harvest to me, unless you're trying to take prints. the smallest ones you could let grow some more.

I think this is the second time this week that someone has had their GT's produce white fruits. I think they are only albinos if the spores are white, if not is a condition that starts with an L, cant remember what its called atm. Just introduced my GT's to fruiting, maybe I could get a true albino to clone, that would be badass. Please let us know if you get one with white spores, that would be really cool!! BTW the white ones r perfectly fine to eat, albino or not..

This is correct as far as I know.

True albinos shouldn't have any pigment whatsoever. I just posted the leucism link because it was someone else's explanation for it. I think that's what we've got going on here.

Yes, I do believe san is right, leucism is the term I was looking for, they will only be true albinos if the spore prints are white.

Again, these terms apply to skin.  It's really just a matter of "is the mushroom white?" and "are the spores white".  There doesn't seem much to show that fungal genetics associate these two things.

JW, OP did you obtain these spores from a nonsponser, no need to say who, I could take a pretty good guess if it was not. Just wanted to know:shrug:
