Holy shit ferret! Where did you find that motherload? Bastard! Your gonna have some interesting experiences with that lot!
Those are all pretty much consistant with Ps.Australiana/Ps.Subaeruginosa variants.
The Ps.Eucalypta ive had ided from NSW looked like this:

Reverend: Definately SUbaeruginosa - although your not looking for an ID.
The other species in New Zealand resemble Psilocybe Zapotecorum (ps.aucklandii) found around Auckland and Ps.Makarorae which looks like Ps.Caerulipes and neither of those guys really resemble Ps.Subaeruginosa which is of the Azurescens/Cyanescens family of Psilocybes.

Eucalypta dried only:

and the gills are very distant, not ascending and brown:

WHat do you think? Maybe now you can get some Koh and have a squize at those P.cystidia??

Yeah - the season has well and truely arrived.
Went for a hunt in the rain today and found a few different assorted mushrooms = marasmius, coprinus, hypholoma, agaricus xanthoderma and langei?, and some weird looking russula shaped amanitas?
I also found some strange white mushrooms i thought were agaricus, but with white to grey gills.
But basck to the point - no psilocybes and i thinks its a little early for most woodlovers at the moment - a few days from now and we might have more luck.
So much for Azurescens being and introduced species - its all over the eucalypta and pine mulch now and the leaf-litter is now stuck down with rhizomorphes. It looks more promising than the subs.

Looks like you won't have to wait much longer down there then...too warm up here yet and not quite enough rain either

bm - think I found one of those strange greyish-gilled fungi you saw...yeah i thought it was an Agaricus too

hehe ruski, there has been plenty of rain lately! we had that 100mm+ on sunday night, and there are mushrooms EVERYWHERE. i went to some local woodchip beds to find clusters of hundreds of inactive mushrooms :frown: i also discovered your (and aussi's) spot , there was nothing there yet. i've got hope that when they do start popping up, they're pop up somewhere local as well...

if worst comes to worst, i'll probably end up heading into the blue mountains again in a week or two for some hunting fun

hundreds of subs poppin up in most of my patches now, last year i broke up and scattered maggotty old caps all through the garden beds i usually check... this year theyre poppin up like crazy all over the place...
heaps of edibles too: Macrolepiota rhacodes (shaggy parasol), one of my favorites for eatin and Boletus granulatus (slippery jack), one ive yet to eat. also what ive been calling Agaricus silvaticus, but may be langei? anyway it stains red and has brown fibres all over the cap.

Those P. Subaeruginosa in the first pictures resemble P. Azurescens so much "Wow". I wonder if the P. Azurescens I have picked in Astoria Oregon, long time ago originated from a P. Subaeruginosa and have changed microscopically since the different environment change?

yeah they are really similar, is it true azurescens grow a bit bigger, up to 10cm caps?,
i havent seen a subaeruginosa cap over 7cms.
i recall reading something a couple years ago suggesting that azures and cyans may have originated from Australian subs... can't find it again tho...
