San Pedro cuttings/mold/consumption

I'm not sure whether this belongs in "Other Drugs" or "Ethnobotanical Garden." My apologizes if this doesn't "belong" in this forum:

I have a number of San Pedro cuttings which are turning red, and in some cases molding (as in turning a bit fuzzy, the redness might very well be mold for all I know), on the ends where they've been cut.

I was wondering what this meant, in terms of consumption. I was assuming I could just cut off the moldy ends when boiling my cactus and all would be fine. Then again, I don't know whether cutting the mold off would even be necessary, as I'll be boiling the cactus anyway and presumably that would kill off the mold (I don't know the biological action of mold, so I don't know whether boiling mold makes it okay for consumption or not).

Anyway, I was just hoping for some feedback on this. Once again, my plan is to simply cut off the ends on my cuttings and prepare the tea bar-regular.

Go ahead and cut off the ends. It shouldn't be neccessary to cut off more than about a quarter inch or less. Just enough to get rid of the mold. Your loss in alkaloids wouldn't be enough to make any noticable difference.
