Little help on San pedro cutting please
    #1140965 -

I'm going to partake in my cactus tomorrow and will be making the "tea" tonight. Now, ill be taking the majority of the cactus and i want to keep a cutting to replant and grow.

A few questions:

What part of the cactus would be the best for replanting? Top bottom middle? How long should it be?

If I leave the stump of the cactus rooted....will it grow back?

Any other tips are appreciated.

What part is best for replanting?
Pedros are extremely hardy, so it doesn't matter. Part of your decision might come down to personal preference. The end cut looks better to most people, but a middle cut can be more productive, particularly if you get two or more pups growin'.
How long should it be?
I have heard that you want them at least two inches in length.
If I leave the stump rooted will it grow back?
Yes.
I would use a sterile knife to cut the plant to insure cleanliness. If you do plan on replanting the end cut, allow the cut end to dry and callous before replanting. Otherwise you run the risk of the cut end rotting.
Have a great trip. Mescaline is the best!
