I'm retiring from psychs, from being a 'drug enthusiast' and from the shroomery * 1
    #14749036 -

You guys have been cool, my last trips have been cool, but I feel like the voice in my head is telling me to just hang it up and work at my life.

I registered for an RN program in the Fall to supplement my Jazz studies degree that's almost complete and I'm quitting the drugs. Knowing me I might go ahead and partake in a friend's blunt after a gig or rehearsal here and there, but the thrill of getting high is certainly gone, and the thrill of talking about the same types of experiences has been obliterated.

I'd like to encourage you guys to try and stay clean. When I've been up to my eyeballs in drugs, instead of thinking of what I could do, I was only thinking of what I could do along with shrooms, or acid, or rolls, or coke, and in retrospect it was a huge waste of time, money, sanity, health and intelligence (I have become more mature, but I think that sober life could  have just as easily taught me that). Jam sessions that I've had on cid and coke could have been just as fun and more productive sober, and I could have progressed in my career more and helped myself more if I wouldn't have chilled with so many losers in the past 3 years.

I'll sum it up as fun, but not worth the fun in the end. I didn't have many sober peers telling me that there was anything wrong with smoking weed and doing psychs seasonally, and after having done it to death there's plenty wrong with it IMO and IME. Live your lives, and do more to help yourself achieve happiness every day, I'm nobody to tell you guys what to do, but before any of you take that 'next step' in trying more drugs out, take a sobriety break and see what that does for you first. Clearly knowing what I'm doing, who I am, and where I'm going is more euphoric to me as of late than being lost in a meaningless haze.

Peace and love to all you guys.

good luck. I'll always like psychs, but I have my limits, those every day/week/month trippers just make no sense to me. If I did it that much I'd never want to trip again either

good luck in your travels

Sounds like you just abused them. They can definitely contribute positive to jam sessions too. Look at the Beatles change from a hard days night. I like their old stuff too but obviously the drugs were influencing them. I have nothing against sobriety tho, I abused alcohol and no longer drink.

I've done a lot of drugs in the past, I still do.

Knowing who you are, is that like "finding yourself"?  What does that mean?  People tell us all about how important it is eventually to "find yourself" or whatever when we're kids but does that really make any sense?  Isn't the self a constantly changing thing, if it can even be said to be a thing, that we shed when we die, the "ego" basically?  So yeah, I think the concept is kinda goofy but I'm also kinda curious what you mean by that.  But since you're retiring from shroomery I guess I'll never know.

People who claime to want to quit drugs are as weird as the poeple who get married at 18.

You're not the same person at 30 as you are at 25, and at 25 as your are at 22, and 22 as you are at 20, and 20 as you are at 18. You're making a huge leap for such an early point in your life, as if anything is just that decision and you never tihnk about it agian.

In a few years you'll have a whole new set of thought patterns, problems, ways you make yourself happy, and all the stuff like it. Quitting these substances is a phase, and people always come back to it. We're never at a point in life where we have 'arrived'.

Just accept it as a phase.

See you in 10 months, OP. Hopw your future mushroom grow goes good, I'll totally comment on your thread when you make it

Sucks when you don't have self-control and burn out into a holier-than-thou stage.

Ever detox off opiates?

GTFO

Your monthlong contributions to the shroomery will forever be remembered and archived.
