Just looking for some ideas on how to improve myself.

You don't need to, the thread is about how you guys improve yourself.  I'm not looking for people to post things that they read off some list, but rather what they do personally.

I try and improve myself on a daily basis by looking within and trying to find peace and feeling content in all that I am and all that I do; hope that helps.

I study (mostly vocabulary) and work out, and try to eat one really healthy meal a day, though usually all three are.

I started exercising and cutting down on my caffeine (seriously, who needs 750mg a day?). I'm trying to cook more often, I want to make a six-month run of entirely home-cooked meals.

Be aware of your mind and keep it directed where you want it. I like to focus certain days on certain things. I'll try to make an entire day without complaining about ANYTHING (harder than it sounds), or saying nothing negative, or generally just spreading love around.

I try to improve myself by staying active and doing constructive things. Although I have to admit, I don't do as much as I'd like to as of yet. I still do a great deal of things - I set goals, make changes in life for the better, take care of the things I need to, etc.
I guess I'm just not at the place I want to be yet, but just that alone is the motivation to get there. Always setting goals beyond where I am currently at always keeps me trying harder to do better.

I like to make sure I'm always learning new things. I make to~do~lists and try to get to things when I have some time. I try to overcome my irrational fears and take them head~on.

I like some of u guys' ideas. I need to work more on being positive and controlling my thoughts better.

I get around on bicycle instead of using my car.

I choose whole grains and cereals high in fiber over "tastier" alternatives.

I take a multivitamin.

I try to start each day with some hatha yoga (haven't been consistent lately).

I go to school to learn new and interesting things.

I try to never be in a hurry. I will get where I am going when I get there. No sense in being in a rush.

I masturbate twice daily. :awesomenod:

I second the bicycle. Ever since I bought a bike and started commuting by bike, I'm much healthier, and I feel much better about myself.

A bicycle is a simple step towards a MUCH healthier lifestyle.

Plus, you can feel good about doing your part for the environment and what not.

- I stop smoking pot periodically for a few months every year to remain in touch with my 'real', unadulterated emotions.
- I listen carefully to how other people view life and what they find important, no matter how far-out their ideas are or how much they are opposed to mine. I 'cherry pick' the things I think are constructive or help me improve from their world views.
- I try to remain open to the criticism or feedback of others on my behavior and personality. I genuinely try to improve on the things that others experience as undesirable or nonconstructive in my persona.
- I eat very little meat and fish, and am generally aware of how the things I eat, impact the environment.
- When my car broke down last autumn, I didn't replace it. I use my bike and public transport.
- I contribute (in a limited way, but still) to the group of homeowners in my apartment building by trying to smooth the processes of maintenance and communication with external stakeholders, such as contractors.
- When asked, I give people feedback, and I try to do so in a respectful, constructive and specific manner.
- When someone asks me for help, I help them out.

Obviously, I don't always succeed in the above. Self-improvement is for me trying to increase the extent to which I do adhere to the self-applied norms I outlined above.

Just got back into trying to improve myself. I get bad bouts of depression that swing me, but this time I feel different in my approach.

I've started:

Reading books again.

Either lifting weights, long walks with the dog, running at least half an hour a day or half an hour aerobics a day

Taking time out just to be quiet.

Make a positive effort with people and strangers.

Cut out alcohol unless it's for a social gathering and then control my intake.

1-3 tablets of Niacin a day.

Waking up early.

Smiling.
