your better off staying with the perlite, it really isn't that messy, and it's good at keeping the humidity at the perfect leve, plus if your using the poor mans terranium, what's the point of buying more geo, whne u already have the perlite.... that's what i think.... hope it helps......

Stick w/ perlite. It will provide humidity, and is expendable.

Used perlite, used geolite. Will never use perlite again.

Understood Magesh, but you also aren't using the Poor Mans technique, and have mastered the art. That Is why I suggested perlite for his first attempts.

I use perlite and ultra sonic combined. It works well here as the climate is too damn dry. I think I have a nice ter, but I use perlite. Geo is expensive and a bitch to find around here. If I were to get a contam, I can throw all the shit out goto wal mart and buy 4 more bags . I wouldn't have to worry about rinsing, and lifting a huge ass tub of clay.

Geolite is killer. With the geolite I just put the cakes on it and haven't had a problem.
