aging peyote graft that needs transplant
    #14452363 - 05/14/11 05:03 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

A friend has a ~3 year old Lophophora Williamsii var. Caespitosa that is grafted to a pereskiopsis and the pereskiopsis looks to be dead, it got knocked over and dried out.  Anyway, he was wanting to take it off the pereskiopsis and plant it directly in a pot and was wanting to do it carefully.  Would the best way to do it be cutting it close to the bottom, let it callus over, then put it into a sandy soil, watering it very infrequently until it roots?  He will be cutting some of the clumps off and putting them on other pereskiopsis, but was concerned about the main part of it dying.  any tips would be great

dont water a p[iece with no roots it will rot.

i would would just pull it off. then let it callous over if there was any damamge.

but like i said before under no circumstance should you water a piece of cactus with no roots. and put it in bone dry soil.
