Trichocereus grafted to Pereskiopsis?

Have any of you experimented with grafting Trichocereus seedlings to Pereskiopsis? I saw an awesome thread on another board where someone did it with great results and was wondering if anyone over here has tried it.

Many have tried it here with great results.
As I've tried to ween off Trichs and more into globulars, I have yet to try.
It's just like doing any other pereskiopsis graft, except you may have to worry about it getting too top heavy with age.

good short term, shitty long term.....which should be the definition of pereskiopsis grafting i think lol.

Seems like it would be good for trichs. Arn't they slow to start from seed but once they get large enough they're pretty fast growers?

Will do!

trichs aren't too slow to grow from seed, after the first ten months they really take off, heres a timeline of how long it might take http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10510741/page/4
but if you're growing some seedlings to graft to pereskiopsis you might aswell just plant a few extra seeds to grow on their own roots while you're at it, they wont take up much room and its pretty rewarding watching something slowly change from seed to cactus

slow and fast are pretty relative terms...if your used to growing ariocarpus or aztekium, ya they are fast....if you grow morning glories, they are probably pretty slow....
but in the cactus world, *some* trichocereus are generally fast.
you can graft and take cuttings no problem, i think this is what most people do...i do sometimes, although i tend to use selenicereus and hylocereus more often now. the thing is that NO other cactus grafting stock can be propagated as fast as pereskiopsis...which in my mind is the real thing it has going for it, cause there are otehr stocks that are comparable to their speed.
what other cactus can you start with one, and have over 1000 in under a year (without seeds)...????
nuff said lol..

Done it, works well. Not mush of a point to it though, trichs do well on their own.

I don't want to steer this threat too far away from the topic but how do selenicereus and hylocereus perform compared to pereskiopsis when used as grafting stock for different other cacti?

iv tried hylocereus, they are as easy to graft to as pereskiopsis, well i thought so anyway,
hylocereus dont have glochids so they are easier to work with,
they seem to grow pretty much as fast and pereskiopsis grafts have a limited lifespan, after a while the pereskiopsis gets all woody and the scion stops growing as fast. as far as i know hylocereus grafts last a long long time

^yup.
i personally find pereskiopsis less work to graft too, which is probably why new growers love it so much. but like you said, its not really much faster than hylo, and hylo is long term....but still cannot have huge scions...all stocks have their weight limits.
