Re: Share your Myers-Briggs personality type [Re: MarkostheGnostic]

What forms of validity and reliability are you referring to when you say the MBTI has high degrees of validity and reliability?

And what are your sources - personal experience, papers, reviews, meta-analytic reviews - year published?

Thanks

I just took 2 tests on 2 different sites and came up with ISFJ and ESFJ...Both of the descriptions fit pretty well.

I was wondering, is there any way to change how your personality is, or is it concrete?

The reason I ask is because I worry alot...ALOT! about shit that may happen. G/f cheating, friend betraying, what if this, what if that...That shit is getting to be very unhealthy for me.

I see this, and know it to be true, but I can't seem to get past this.

I also get frustrated with people who don't "seem" to put as much effort in to the relationship as I do. For example, I get frustrated when my g/f never reciprocates any of the nice/sweet/thoughtful things I do...and then think she doesn't even give a shit about me, etc.

Is there anything out there (besides drugs) to help calm me the fuck down about this stuff?

I'm an ENTP. I feel like at times I could be an INTP though. I think I may be mildly manic depressive or something.

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

The Kiersey is not the MBTI and it does not give an accurate read. I come out as INTJ, but I know the types to well to know that it is inaccurate. I am consistently INTP since the early 1980s. Personality type does not change accross the lifespan any more than sexual orientation does. That part of one's personality is determined by age 6. There may be a lifting of suppression/repression, but not change of orientation.

I mostly agree with this. I'm kinda in between on the F and T though.

I've taken this test a few times. I think I always got this result. I guess it's quite valid for me.

N's mean iNtuitive S's mean Sensing...

Quote:
Sensing and intuition are the information-gathering (perceiving) functions. They describe how new information is understood and interpreted. Individuals who prefer sensing are more likely to trust information that is in the present, tangible and concrete: that is, information that can be understood by the five senses. They tend to distrust hunches, which seem to come "out of nowhere."[1]:2 They prefer to look for details and facts. For them, the meaning is in the data. On the other hand, those who prefer intuition tend to trust information that is more abstract or theoretical, that can be associated with other information (either remembered or discovered by seeking a wider context or pattern). They may be more interested in future possibilities. They tend to trust those flashes of insight that seem to bubble up from the unconscious mind. The meaning is in how the data relates to the pattern or theory.
