I'm an INTP like Einstein, Darwin, and Thomas Jefferson

Read about the specifics in the Wiki article in addition to taking the test. If you understand what each category means, you'll be a better judge than a test. Google your type and read some more about it. This is a shit ton more interesting and accurate than reading generic, all-encompassing, bullshit personality descriptions based on the position of the earth when you happened to detach from your mother.

The following quote is something I found especially relevant to myself, especially in trying to explain a big revelation I had a couple months back, both on these forums and to others in person.

"[INTPs] are likely to express themselves in what they believe to be absolute truths. Sometimes, their well thought-out understanding of an idea is not easily understandable by others, but the INTP is not naturally likely to tailor the truth so as to explain it in an understandable way to others."

I feel like I really understand a concept when I can sum it up in very few words, but I found that trying to explain things to others in very few words doesn't get the message across very well.

All my posts in this forum are strictly fictional.
They are derived from an acute mental illness , from which i am forced to lie compulsively.
I have never induced any kind of mind altering substance in my life  and i have no intentions whatsoever of doing anything illegal.
If I have ever suggested such a thing it would have most likely been , due to my personality disorder and i probably do not remember it at all..

Yeah same here. Read the Wikipedia article and decide for yourself. I was getting either INTP and INFP on different tests, but after reading what it means, I decided I'm more of an INTP. As it says in the wiki:

"Own best judge
Individuals are considered the best judge of their own type. While the MBTI questionnaire provides a Reported Type, this is considered only an indication of their probable overall Type. A Best Fit Process is usually used to allow respondents to develop their understanding of the four dichotomies, to form their own hypothesis as to their overall Type, and to compare this against the Reported Type. In more than 20% of cases, the hypothesis and the Reported Type differ in one or more dichotomies. Using the clarity of each preference, any potential for bias in the report, and often, a comparison of two or more whole Types may then help respondents determine their own Best Fit."

Weird...
Jung created the types and described them. In his descriptions he explains the boons and weaknesses of each type. It was his view that what a true extravert sees, a true introvert is blind to. And visa versa.

IMO a good description would be one that includes the description of what is hidden. But if jung was on to anything, people would see such descriptions as completely foreign (or invisible) in their lives. This would lead someone to choose a type that was more visible.

So either the descriptions have been modified significantly to accommodate this, or choosing your typology yourself has a real potential to be misguided.

My lady and I are both INTPs. She has a long time interest in the instrument, and I was trained by a Jungian analyst to administer and hand-score 1000 of them as a grad assistant. We're both pretty good at typing someone we've met without administering the instrument (which I use periodically for counselees and friends).

INTP.  I took it five or six years ago and got the same.

I was in a different career at that time and really unhappy with it.  I wound up in one of the careers listed for my type on M-B coincidentally, but I like it.

I don't think these tests have any validity for this reason.
There were about 80% of the questions that I could answer either way.
Some of them the judgments that were asked for just weren't important to me and some of them both of the choices seemed equally important.
Maybe this is just a poorly worded example of this kind of test, but I doubt it.
